You should be aware that it is no longer called "Caribana" which was the original name ...it is now called "Caribbean Carnival"...that is SIGNIFICANT because SCOTIABANK Canada has taken over the management of this event and put their own Canadian stamp on it. How serious are we as Caribbean people...no one even thought to patent the name "CARIBANA" ...so even that gas been lost. Come on people...let's get together and celebrate our culture of course ...but let's be aware that it is being stolen from under our very eyes!

Maybe because it's Caribana which is not necessarily a soca event . It's a Caribbean cultural event .Reggae is a part of that .

No because Caribana is a Soca event and I can tell you this I’m from Trinidad live in Canada from 72 and I have played Mas from the age of 16 in Canada and all my “Yardy” friends never played Mas with me only my other friends from other Islands because it was only a Soca event and most of the Jamaicans I know didn’t even go to or dance to calypso not even in parties when they play soca you can’t tell me any different I been to Soca fetes and dancehalls and back then at the Danchall parties I never heard one soca, only now they may have a soca DJ and they stil jus stand there like sticks some of them I guy us Jam. and he doesn’t even dance to soca like that I dance to every music that’s the difference between our cultural just the past years 12-13 years some yardy play mas and they mostly choose their flag colors to show they are Jamaicans playing Mas I have a friend that when she came here ten years ago told me you guys didn’t even have a Festival like it there jus go on the road and play reggae music the first time she played she said that it was the best fun she ever had and wished it was more than once a year, and has been playin ever since with Trini friends, I played up until COVID and I played this year and I pass the reggae float I only dance to Soca on that day so you’re wrong, we all From different cultural backgrounds and doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy other cultures but I find that Soca rarely gets a chance at Jamaican events so my thing with the person videoing the event with Soca playin everywhere is now posting it with Reggae music doesn’t give it the props it should have to showcase what Caribanas Roots are which is Calypso and SteelPan music the Masqueraders dancing to Soca, So don’t come for me I will tell you because I can, jus my opinion 🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹 to my bone jus like you’re a Yardy 🇯🇲🇯🇲to yours! ✌🏽

I always taught the Brooklyn, NYC -West Indian day parade was biggest North America Parade , Any how i got family that lives in Montreal , i always wanted to go Caribfete Carnival in Montreal, god spare my life in I'm still alive in 2023 There 90% chance I'll be going to caribana , I wonder which costume band has the best vibes in Toronto ! , any how much love from Flatbush-Nyc P.S. I feel like Miami West indian carnival is more organized compare to Brooklyn -Nyc West indian day carnival ( in Brooklyn nyc carnival too much non revelers stormers like to invade people band , Miami carnival is so organized) ....depending which band you play with Brooklyn nyc west Indian carnival parade some bands dont play with stormers coming in there band ) but nyc carnival have storming problem !!!!

Great footage but the music does not fit in. One important element is missing and that is the Steelband music. For a minute thought I was watching a Brazilian Carnival parade combined with all the almost naked players. Not really Caribbean.

There is something missing in the deployment ....I think lack of discipline in the groups and fit-in place follow ups. The road on itself is also to broad and they have to keep viewers outside the march. Even a small Caribean Country like Curaçao has a better despiege in its carnaval .

@@16_miles even the people who were seen watching from what I could see on the side was very few,also there were no floats no drums from different performers like London, African, Brazilian,Indian a whole mix,no steel bands the whole affair looked very bland, check out the Nottinghill carnival on KZbin people fly in from all over the world ,also there was no food being cooked on the roadside I didn't see children enjoying that Canadian event it was hot there where we're all the drinks no police presence no first aiders Infact no organization🤣🤣
