Carinthia Tropen Sleeping Bag English Version

The Carinthia Tropen is a light-weight sleeping bag with an extremely small packing size and minimum weight. Its remarkable feature is its vapour permeability which is very important for hot and humid tropical nights. The Shelltrans shell fits loosely over the inner structure and provides an extra layer of insulation with no cold seams. This construction ensures reserve warmth for cool, foggy nights. In warmer weather the bottom part of the two-way zipper can be opened for ventilation.
The hood is equipped with a mosquito net which can be folded out of the flap if required (it is in the front part of the bag and stored behind the flap with press studs.) The net can easily be attached around the hood by means of the small zipper. The zipper is non-snagging so that you can always get out quickly and easily.

i am really enjoying your review while i am testing the carinthia tropen in my hammock. i would like to test it this winter with a gore-tex cover, my guess is that i will not need the complete system in the soft belgian climate.

Sander, Thank you for the nice words. They always inspire me to do more reviews. A lot of them are in the making right now. Please share your experience with the bag during wintertime. I would think that you will need more insulation from beneath, than the gore-tex cover. The only concern would be if there's a strong and cold wind. Stay dry! Kind regards Claus "Claude" S. Nice review! I have both the Defence 4 and Tropen in the 200 size. As someone who is 6'5'' / 195cm tall I've always struggled to find good sleeping bags as most manufacturers don't increase the shoulder width along with the length. The Carinthia bags are the most comfortable I've had and are great value. I got the Tropen in sand colour to make them a little more distinguishable when doubling up. With a Downmat 9LX and a US MSS Goretex bivvy they are bomb proof for all situations.

Just wondering since i'm 185cm. Should i choose the Tropen 185 or 200? I want to combine it with a Defence 4, but the store who has a good price on them only has them in 200. Is it a good idea to take a tropen 185 with a defence 4 200 or will there only be wasted space not just taking 200 on both? Thanks for the review. it answered a lot.

Senchoo Airsoft Thank you for the nice words :-) I'm 183 cm, and I personally prefer the 200cm. I've tried to many times to sleep with clothes and boots on, and having too little space. Especially when you start combining sleeping bags, you will automatically have lesser room. If it's possible try both sleeping bags combined, in the store. This should give you an idea whats best for you. I would personally choose the 200cm bags. Thank you for commenting. The more subscribers I get, the more gear I'll be able to test. Stay dry! Hey! Talked to Carinthia on their facebook. And for me they recommended the 200. Since i am 185 and have a small belly they would think i would sleep better in the longer one, otherwise it would get a little short at the feet. Thanks again and take care!
