First time I saw Mr Cox play live was in Up For It in Tenby, Wales. Wasn’t sure what to expect as that was a well known house club and I was all about the Hardcore and Jungle at the time so no idea what to expect. Well... Carl was playing house and hard house that night and oh boy was the whole path of my musical journey changed forever. Absolutely incredible, something I’ll never forget. Early doors he even played Strike’s ‘You sure do’ and it was something to behold. Way before it went into charts it was quite the euphoria inducing tune. Whenever I smell Vicks vapour rub it takes me back without fail. Lol. I was lucky enough to get a double cassette of the night recorded at the time so can relive it at my leisure. Big up the Up For It faithful. Even got to speak to Carl for a brief moment, who knew he’d still be doing what he does best 25 years later. God on the decks!
