As a young bloke I recall watching the battles between Fogarty and our boy Troy Corser. Great racing and as it turns out they are both great blokes. I was at Phillip Island in ( 97 or 98 ) when Carl crashed at Southern Loop breaking his shoulder as I remember. Correct me if I am wrong! ( it was 2000 and that crash happened right in front of me and my old man ). I still have my Corser poster of him wheel standing his 916 around Phillip Island hanging in the shed. Thank you Carl for the years and years of top quality racing

Once stood next to him when ripping a crazy burn-out at the TT circuit of Assen. Back than you were ‘allowed’ to climb the fence and walk onto the track. One of my best childhood memories. When teaching guys to ride they would always ask what bike do I recommend. My recommendation to them was easy, a Suzuki Bandit 600. It was the complete package? As a first proper bike it ticked all the boxes. Great ride, looks good, four cylinder, great economy, benign handling, great costs. It was without equal.

Passed your motorbike test at 28? I was 42 and my first bike was a Triumph Street Triple Rx 675, it's an incredibly capable bike, smooth, fast, easy to ride and comfortable. I then bought a CCM Spitfire Scrambler as a second bike with a totally different experience from the 600cc single. They're both polar opposites and offer a great range of riding experience. Enjoy your first bike whatever it ends up being, ride safe but most of all enjoy.

CCMs are a lovely bike, quite a lot of dosh for what they are, but they look great. I only passed at 39, 1st bike was a Ducati monster: not the most dynamic, but plenty fast enough, the flat bars make it easy to throw around and it sounds the tits. A sports bike rides very differently, it needs a bit more commitment plus your weight is on your wrists. I’m keeping the monster but getting a sports bike next year when COVID clears and we can get out. Whatever you get you wont regret it - great fun!
