I like very much the sympathetic riding, a nice soft supplness and harmony.The rider has a supple hip and delicate seat,supple back soft hands which is very nice to see and which of course makes the horse relax and show very nice rythm.In fact in his warm up I think the horse actualy looked better more relaxed with more to offer when needed as seen in the last passage shown of the warm up.

This is modern dressage riding, fully accomadation the modern sports horse or warmblood, which is of course a hotblood now in all but name. Soft seat soft hands soft back riding with just delicate seat aids and a resting waiting leg. So the rider gives an effortless impression that actualy is almost effortless. His hands could be lower generaly. Its interesting to compare this to riders who still think they are on heavy warm bloods out there in the ring.

@dog2484 no one can put up a horse video these days without attracting a hater desperate to get attention off of others. I'm sure you are an advanced classical dressage rider who is perfectly qualified to comment about horse training, but most probably not, because you spend most of your time on KZbin or FB being a keyboard warrior trying to show off your superior knowledge and self righteous beliefs, pretending that all this anger and bitterness is because of your love of animals. Take that time and energy and go and do something productive with your life instead of snarking at others.

While the sport horse as a breed has advanced many riders have not and many more still are trained in old school German methods. This has left a score of rider horse combinations with sad stiff sour looking horses with often horribly exaggerated movements and obvious stress on the horses mental and physical well being.So one must be delighted with such ambassadors to the sport like Carl here who can clearly show how it should be done along with his protégé the gold medal wining Charlotte Duj' (:

I like that he uses more legs than any Dressage ride I've come across, instead of just leaning on the reins. I'm a Western Pleasure rider myself, but that does not mean I'm going to hate any other riding sport there is. I use my legs quite a lot too, and use the reins for head position and lifting shoulders - which I assume He (and a lot of you out there) does as well? One thing I'm curious about is the purpose of the two reins (I'm not criticizing)? One is a snaffle and the other a correction - right?
@SibaldydeMonboois11 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's a good idea to use the bit as a correction. So I really don't think this is the purpose of one of the bits, besides it's obligatory to ride with a bridle so with two bits.
@equestriannnnnn11 жыл бұрын
No, its a double bridle. One is a snaffle (the bradoon) and the other one is a weymouth which is a curb. high level dressage horses always go in a double bridle
@lynnkelley78410 жыл бұрын
The curb is used to aid in the high level of collection needed at this level of dressage. The use of the curb, however, does depend on how well the horse has been trained. In some rides you will see the outside edge of the curb nearly parallel to the ground when being engaged..this means the rider is using a lot of pressure on the curb to get the collection. The idea is to get the horse so responsive and light that the curb is barely used but some riders use it as a crutch. Many of these upper level horses are schooled only in snaffles.
@keithbartlam473310 жыл бұрын
Lynn Kelley The Curb Rein's ONLY use is to ask for a "dropping at the poll" (not the curling down and under as seen in this video), and also a correct neck extension, otherwise it isn't used. A correct neck extension is when one wants to stretch the neck OUT and with an OPEN poll, with the neck no lower then horizontal to the ground. That is correct classical French Riding....which bye the way the Cadre Noir no longer practice as I witnessed at Saumur last weeek!!!

I can see how you'd think that if you don't know.... My 2 horses love to be ridden. They reach down and grab the bit, often before I'm even ready for them to do that. At the level shown in this video one of the requirements is to ride with no obvious riders' aids. If there was any pain the horse wouldn't be able to produce such beautiful work. I know that this will fall on dumb ears.

@katemeadows73138 жыл бұрын
Yes you are perfectly right, MOST is forced - force is NOT beautiful.
@britneymoonpiestarstableon39608 жыл бұрын
spurs\\\are to give the horse a better understanding of what is being asked * a clear knowledge. curbs are not cruel or severe, they are called a leverage bit--meaning: they put pressure on poll to help keep head down and steady. ALSO is used again for more clear instructions. actually: both of these twos are to give a more clear instruction to the horse.
@Bekahsassy8 жыл бұрын
BS! If you can't gain control of the horse on the ground, hence why you need all that crap to force it, otherwise it goes out of control and you end up on the ground. Spurs is to push the horse because there was no ground work done with the horse, so it does NOT respect you. Bits makes you believe your controlling the horse, but it is a means of communication, not control. This horse is being forced to do what the human want it to do vs the horse wanting doing it on it's own through cues.
@rohansrider8 жыл бұрын
Why then is the froth often flecked with blood in the horses' mouths . Look at old films of Christine Stukleberger on Granat and Anky Van Grunsven on Parcival to name two and then tell me that is NOT severe Half-halts by the former were bordering on damn cruel. Both Olympic riders who were very severe and should know better .

Keith Bartlam It's called Rollkur and well spotted. Horses that froth all over themselves are not enjoying their ride. Check out Juan Manuel, from Spain, and his Andalusin number 12. With this team, rider and trainer are one and there's no Rollkur, regardless of his stallion's neck.

Look and count how many PID's (Pain Inflicting Devices) the rider uses to get this performance out of a horse. 3 in the mouth and a tight nose band so the horse mouth cant be pulled open no matter how hard the rider pulls. And two blunt "Spears" on the riders legs. (6 in total) With that threat over me I would also do as I am bloody well told. Real "Masters" of the past rode with long looping reins!
@eliasfarley18678 жыл бұрын
you clearly don't know much about riding and dressage. "3 in the mouth"? There is ONE bit in this horse's mouth. One. no more. the nose band is there to keep the bridle in place and yes to keep the mouth closed. Because horses tend to learn to slip their tongues over the bit if they have the room provided by an open mouth. the spurs on his feet (not "spears" on his legs) are used as an aid. You never see him stab them into this horse by kicking him. He rubs them gently on his sides with minimal contact as an aid to ask for a movement. That's it. And nobody that I've ever heard of EVER in dressage had ridden with "long looping reins"! I believe you're talking about western!

Patrick Kaye it is baffling to me how anyone with apparently zero knowledge of riding would feel the necessity to comment (on one of the few current riders that still trains correctly) in such a way
