This KZbin video argues that worry is an illusion rooted in deep-seated fears and insecurities. The speaker uses Carl Jung's psychological concepts to explain how worry is a "trick of the mind," distracting us from the present moment and preventing us from living freely. Key Jungian concepts explored include: Shadow work: Worry signals unmet needs within the shadow self (suppressed aspects). Addressing these hidden fears and insecurities diminishes worry's power. Future fixation: Worry fixates on worst-case future scenarios, disconnecting from the present. Observing these imagined narratives helps dissolve their hold. Synchronicity: Worry blocks noticing life's unpredictable, guiding moments. Trusting the universe's flow fosters safety and confidence. Individuation: Worry arises from misalignment with one's true self. Becoming your authentic self reduces worry's influence. Surrender: Resistance to uncertainty fuels worry. Surrender means accepting the present without judgment, creating space for growth and solutions. Inner wisdom: Answers lie within. Connecting with one's inner presence strengthens one's ability to let go of worry. The video emphasizes that worry stems from a belief that something is missing-a fear of inadequacy or loss. Healing these underlying beliefs and addressing the mind's storytelling dissolves worry's power. The speaker highlights the importance of presence as an antidote to worry, observing thoughts and emotions without judgment. Letting go of worry is presented as a practice, not a one-time event, requiring consistent effort to return to trust, presence, and alignment. The video concludes by emphasizing that true peace comes from looking inward and connecting with one's inner stillness.

" I had a great many trials and tribulations in my life, - but most of them never came to pass..," Mark Twain. MT was a great " Original. Thinker " , and came up with many such concise and brilliant summaries of life's many faces. Let me add a "future oriented " one of my own: '' Based on the mistaken idea that I had little or nothing to offer them, I planned, saved, and built for all those wonderful get togethers I had missed out on, and now to come ; but when I had arrived there, everything had changed, the people were gone, times had moved into new and different places and that original need was no longer there. All those wasted Nows, to arrive at a Now, with so few Now's left...

This was a good simplification that untangled a big chunk of twisted stuff in me. I'm embarrassed to say I've been reading Jung for over 50 years now and I never understood this concept which must have been core to his understanding/teaching. Sometimes, when an individual has been twisted since childbirth, the simplest ideas can be unfathomable. For me, it is true that time/age finally will wear down even the most illusive "survival" patterns keeping us imprisoned.

2 analogies that helped me: 1. worry is like a room full of chattering monkeys in my brain. They screech and fling poop and swing from the rafters. 2. Worry is like a team of horses that get the bit in their mouths and become uncontrollable. Disaster scenarios follow, and I was transfixed, paralyzed because I was convinced my mind was right. Finally in my 50s I decided ENOUGH. Both species are no longer welcome. What helped was the 4 Agreements, especially Take Nothing Personally. I'm now 66 and spend very little time worried or afraid. Detachment and surrender does not mean you are giving up. It just means you've decided to let the Universe guide you instead of the monkeys and horses.

I was living life unknowingly, from late teens to mid forties pretty much as Carl Yung prescribes. It served me well. Synchronicity has played its part, subconscious flow also. Some Individuation happened in my younger self for sure. I didn't / couldn't put labels on it but was aware something good and reassuring was happening. Now in my mid sixties with the aid of platforms like these and reflection on my ups and downs I plan to make a clearer appraisal of my self past present and future by keeping journals and expanding my creative nature to regain my sense of self. This is no new years resolution or affirmation, it is the continuation of a journey I have been on all of my life, one of discovery, renewal , gratitude and faith on this awesome planet. One of the best videos on this subject I have watched and came at a good time with the help of some algorithmic causality 😉 subscribed and thumbs up 👍

@ oh - no worries at all. I’m just kidding! I figured actually that this was the kind of mystery of life unveiled sort of sound track and it actually does fit if I’m honest. Good message and good reminder for me as someone who as a psych major learned a bit about Jung’s perspective. Shadow work in particular is interesting to me. We are all whole and thus have our dark sides so to try to recognize this I think makes sense as opposed to always relegating those parts to the unconscious which paradoxically tends to give them more power or create a tension.
@peterh.15215 күн бұрын
I see worry and overthinking like wrestle against the current in the river instead of let go and float with the flow of life. You don't have to do so much as you often think you have to do (to sustain life and feel well).🌸💚
@rogerlin960228 күн бұрын
0:07 Worry is an illusion, a trick of the mind. First step. Realise that worry doesn’t help you. It holds you back. Shadow Work, bring negativity to the surface. Synchronicity. Trust yourself. Trust the universe. Individuation. Become your true self. Worry thrives on resistance. Key to freedom is surrender, not giving up, but accept what is and go with the flow. Change your relationship with uncertainty where possibilities arise. True peace comes from connecting with inner self. Practice Jung’s teaching. Trust. Presence. Alignment. 7:33 When you let go the idea that something is missing, the fog lifts. Worry creates false sense of time, what if with the future and only if in the past. Worry is part of collective psyche. You aren’t alone. Surrender is giving up what you can’t control, trying to hold water with a fist. You worry when your conscious mind isn’t in sync with unconscious mind. 11:11 Worry comes from losing your identification. The importance of individuation. Ego fears the unknown. But the unknown is to be embraced. Worry arises in relation to others. What will they think? No need for external validation. Worry is distracting from the present moment. Thanks Jung. 11 January 2025. 🐝🍿🙏🏻🍾🌹🌛🌅🍭🙈🍭❤️💝😇🥳🥳🍕🌹

For myself..worry leads to anxiety(stress) leads to fear leads to terror leads to not functional. I'm 76, used to be fearless, now I fear everything. At times I feel I'm on a precipice and if I fall into the abyss I will lose my mind. I buried severe childhood trauma but in my mid fifties the trauma surfaced as Depression, worry, anxiety and trusting medical doctors who then got me addicted (dependent) on Klonopin, a Benzodiazepine drug( medication.)

I can’t even imagine how hard that must be to carry. You’ve been through so much, and honestly, the fact that you’re still standing and sharing this shows just how strong you are, even if it doesn’t feel like it right now. It’s not easy to face all of that, but it says so much about you that you’ve made it this far. I know it can feel like the weight of everything is too much, but you’ve survived things that might’ve broken someone else, and that’s proof of your strength. Take it one small step at a time, even if it’s just finding one thing each day that makes you feel even a little better. And please don’t forget, you’re not alone in this. Lean on people who care about you, whether it’s friends, family, or someone who really understands what you’re going through. You’ve got this. I believe in you.❤️❤️🙏

Great video! Excellent points! I learned years ago that my worry was a signal, like pain showing you to stop doing something. That signal of worry helped me learn how to shift my focus from all the things that could go wrong and focusing instead on solutions. That's when I learned that I was not trapped in a terrifying situation with no way out and nothing I could do about it, but there were many, many solutions to any given situation that could arise and I could choose the best one, or try several. Very freeing for me to realize this and it changed my life from being an abused child to an empowered adult.

Carl Jung’s wisdom never ceases to amaze. The idea that worry is just an illusion resonates deeply with the journey of inner transformation we explore at Unmasking the Shadow. Shadow work, synchronicity, and individuation are not just concepts-they are tools for reclaiming our freedom and stepping into authenticity. I love how this video breaks down Jung's teachings into practical steps, reminding us to trust life’s flow and embrace the process of becoming our true selves. At its core, this message aligns perfectly with the idea that peace isn’t found outside of us-it’s something we cultivate within. Thank you for shedding light on these timeless truths. Here’s to embracing clarity, letting go of worry, and living with purpose!"*

I tend to go back and forth with worry and have learned along the way. I can go back in the past with the tangible aspect of large envelopes that I use to collect a year's worth of paper related to taxes and health insurance for instance, with the year noted. I'm not a paper hoarder, but do keep them "just in case" (never been audited by the IRS, and knocking on wood right now!). In the here and now, if I worry, I can tell myself that I went through similar circumstance in 2004, and 2011, and 2017, etc. It does help me to know that history repeats itself and everything turned out OK. And, also, we tend to be harder on ourselves than we would be to anyone else.

Everything is true in the video. One thing I would add is that it didn’t explain biological mechanics of fear. The thought and belief of unknown makes your body release adrenaline into your bloodstream and it creates flight or fight response making you think world is collapsing on your head and everything is bad. While the process is natural the cause of it -the unreal fear of what ifs- is not. Everything else how to deal with it this video is spot on; acknowledge, face your fears, do not resist and trust yourself and it will loose its power on you over time.

Jung's thoughts on archetypes and how they rule our lives, and his ideas about synchronicity tied so much together for me that I have a huge debt to this man who has passed into eternity. He puts Freud to shame, IMO, with his absurd ideas about "penis envy." What a towering intellect.

@MysticAwakeningYT Thank you for providing these types of videos in our dumbed down and spiritually stunted environment. I just subscribed and look forward to more of your enlightening videos. My dad, before he died, wrote a book re-interpreting Shakespeare for a new century and, he hoped, a new paradigm. Alas, he died disappointed. He was a big fan of Jung's insights into such dense yet important topics as philosophical alchemy, transcending our limited notions of reality via metaphysical experience, word clustering and dream visions as a means of breakthrough and healing for those sick in mind and heart.

Fear emanates from the Ego, always concerned about self image and what people are thinking about you. It will Guard its existence at all cost. Can’t be wrong and has to be superior to others which creates hate, resentments, grudges, and being judgmental!

Start with the fact that you are not your thoughts. Ask the thought “what are you trying to tell me? What evidence is there for this? How does this protect me? Questioning like this helps to transfer the impact of it from the subconscious mind to the rational mind. Give the impact a rating of 1 to 10 also plants the problem into the rational mind and limits its impact. Label the thought as uninvited. Repeat the content of the thought with a really silly and voice to overwrite program in subconscious. State what you want in the moment with emotion and move towards it. Let it go. If worry returns repeat and give it a score for impact out of 10 again. Figure should drop to low figure over time.

Remember, your worth isn't defined by what others think you can or can't do. Every step you take, no matter how small, is a victory. Keep believing in yourself, and don’t lose hope, there’s always a way forward.. always, even if it’s not clear right now. By acknowledging and healing these parts you take away their power - you make it sound so straight forward when the reality is It can take someone a lifetime just to discover those parts let alone heal them

Planning for the future is simply preparation as you would for a journey or a trip, life is a journey so prepare for it. A natural consequence of this preparation is to foresee obstacles or problems & worry is an outcome when solutions can’t be seen & that is hard to avoid. Living 100% in the present without preparing for the future is a juvenile way to live, children can do it easily, but adults as they experience life know it’s not possible. The world is a very different place to when he developed his theories.
