That was his technique. An olympic runner giving a 100% reaches top speed at around 80 meters. At that point they take it down a notch and maintain that speed as they cross the finish line. Carl lewis did the opposite, He'd run at approximately 90% and then time it that he crosses the finish line giving 100%. That's why he's always coming from behind when he races.
@stsk1061
@stsk1061 Жыл бұрын
@@homerj5782 No he didn't. An olympics runner reaches top speed after around 50 to 60m. It was the same for Lewis; the main difference was that he maintained that speed for longer. However, he still had a drop off towards the end of the race.

Blast from the past when running sub-10 seconds was a super rare event. Now sprinters are breaking 10 seconds in the first round. A modern day high school sprinter could actually win a medal in this 1984 Olympic Final race. Jim Hines (USA) ran 9.95 in the 1968 Olympics. In my opinion, Jim Hines’s 9.95 time was the most impressive performance during his generation.

Oh you solve the problem... So go ahead and strike his name down.. have you ever looked at Carl Lewis.. have you ever shook his hand.. you ejected him with steroids. What's the name of the steroid that he used.. when was it caught in his system.. I guarantee you a Caucasian.. have no idea what y'all have against Carl Lewis...

They used a roll of photos taken every .01 seconds back then. The starting gun was hooked to the end zone with a long wire. I’m sure you guys knew that.....just reminiscing.

Well a 10.3 doesn't scream juicing like all the runners putting up 9.8s these days. Juicing has become so common today it ruins the sport.

@@malcolmmaharaj9218 why don't you look up the documentary by Daniel Gorden called 9.79*. It's based on the book Speed Trap by Master Coach Charlie Francis. The documentary and book will give you a clearer idea of the sport history behind who has done what in track and field history.

No doubting CL was a great athlete. But I can’t give him hero status, especially after accusing the immortal Usain Bolt of drug taking, not cool or gracious. Seems CL has forgotten his three failed drug tests of which the lightning Bolt was classy enough not to mention in his retaliation of CL’s unwarranted comments. Maybe CL should follow the example of a true great and icon Micheal Johnson!!!
