According to Wikipedia this is in D Minor not F Major.

Brian Knapp There is an introduction in the key of d minor, however the main theme and set of variations are in f major and the work ends in f major. The original manuscript, which was my source for this version, lists no key in it's title, simply "Variations for solo violoncello". There is a lovely version for cello and piano performed by Michael Bach on KZbin from the Bach/Bogen archives--"Variations for cello and piano in f major Op. posthumous 9".
