No matter how many times you watch these films and know it word for word they never lose that magic to still entertain you. That’s the sign of a true classic movie. Im too freaking old to be crying like this. That was absolutely awesome. My favorite part, and this speaks to Stallone and writer's greatness, was the detail of the story, in particular when Apollo lost in the 2nd movie. I recall George Foreman living the ring after the loss to Ali in " The Rumble." The look on his face was THE same one on Apollo's face at the end of the 2nd movie. I've been a fan of this franchise since 1977. It never disappoints. The tribute to Mickey ( Burgess Meredith) was amazing. This one was better with the "Creed" movie tie-ins. Only one other tv show or movie has ever brought this kind of emotion out of me and that was "Six Feet Under." It was so real. This whole "Rocky" thing feels like we're seeing it all through "uncle Rocky's" eyes. That poor bastard. Lost the two men who meant the most to him, Mickey and Apollo, then his wife, and he son moves away. We say we watch movies to escape, but that's as real as it gets. Again, this was awesome. There's one more movie left. Rocky touched Donnie's glove at the end of "Creed II." We all know what's next. Wow.

Ahhh that's up for debate. He was good but vital to the process the same as Sly I would say negative
@jamesmortonjr.58303 жыл бұрын
@@gary9182 You're entitled to your opinion Gary because "an opinion is like a nose" in which everybody has one right???? 🙂🙃🙂🙃!!!! But you have to think Rocky had to fight Apollo twice (in "Rocky" and "Rocky II") in order to beat Apollo to win the world heavyweight title along with the fact Apollo "came to Rocky's rescue" in "Rocky III" after Rocky lost the crown to Clubber Lang (Mr. T) the first time around and Mickey passing away to train him. As a result, Rocky gained "The Eye of the Tiger" back during training for the rematch and defeated Clubber to regain the heavyweight crown courtesy of Apollo (along with Apollo's faithful trainer Duke 🙃🙂🙃🙂!!!!). Regrettably, Ivan Drago killed Apollo in "Rocky IV". But luckily, Rocky avenged Apollo's demise by kicking Drago's sorry ass in Drago's backyard of Russia 🤣😂🤣😂!!!! Although Apollo's physical structure no longer exist throughout the Rocky movies, if it hadn't been for Apollo's passing in "Rocky IV" his illegitimate son's (Adonis Creed as portrayed by Michael B. Jordan) story probably never would've been told in "Creed" and "Creed II". No doubt Sylvester Stallone is the ultimate star of the Rocky movies (and maybe the Creed movies as well), but it can't be denied how Carl Weathers' influence on both franchises are significant and valid as a whole 🙃🙂🙃🙂!!!!
@gary91823 жыл бұрын
Still Not as Vital period. Your opinion is your opinion and you are entitled to it. The movie isn't called Rocky and Creed it's called Rocky. Everything you said has some truth to it but the movie plain and simple was about the man's struggle not about who or what he struggled against. If you think Creed is just as Vital as Rocky than you must believe Pauly and Adrian are as well. The fact is Rocky Sylvester Stallone is the most vital role to the franchise
@jamesmortonjr.58303 жыл бұрын
@@gary9182 I see we're going to have to "agree to disagree" on this subject Gary 🤣😂🤣😂!!!! Like we both agree on, Sylvester Stallone is without a shadow of a doubt the ultimate star of the Rocky (and maybe Creed) movies. The movies are about the trials and tribulations of the man from Philly (like myself 🙃🙂🙃🙂!!!!) who overcame them all while becoming the greatest underdog in the history of sports movies which is why (at least the first six anyway 🤣😂🤣😂!!!!) the movies are called "Rocky" and NOT "Creed" like you mentioned in your return message. But Carl Weathers played a great supporting role (along with Talia Shire, Burt Young, Burgess Meredith, and Tony Burton) in the first four Rocky movies as an adversary in "Rocky" and "Rocky II" and as a buddy in "Rocky III" and (briefly) in "Rocky IV". As I'm pretty sure we'll both agree on, "Rocky V" was by far the worst Rocky movie out of the entire franchise. But Sly rebounded greatly from the "Rocky V" disappointment with his performance as "The Italian Stallion" in "Rocky Balboa", "Creed", and "Creed II". He was terrific in the last three movies I just mentioned as the legendary Rocky Balboa while hoping and praying he'll change his mind to appear in "Creed III" which is scheduled to hit movie theaters Thanksgiving 2022.

Going deeper....Apollo's fear of becoming irrelevant in the eyes of the sports world (due to Father Time) cost him his life.

Nicely done. I would think that Carl Weathers approves.

What they did together through film impacted so many people. We all were Rocky at some point in our lives.

Every time I see Rocky get knocked down in the 14th round of the first Creed/Balboa fight, I will always remember being a very young man in the Lefferts Theater in Queens watching this drama unfold. I will always remember a theater full of young boys and teenagers SCREAMING AT THE TOP OF THEIR LUNGS for Rocky to get up. We recognized, even if unconsciously, that Rocky would rather die than quit. These movies are great to watch and learn lessons from. At least for me.

I feel you.... and even today when both Rocky and Apollo fall I get the same feeling like I'm watching it for the very first time. I grew up watching the Rocky movies with my Daddy who now has dementia and doesn't know who I am... Rocky movies bring me close to him...

@@TugaQueen My mom passed away a few years back. She had dementia, too, but at least you have a beautiful memory of him with you watching these movies. Towards the end she didn't know who I was either. Treasure that time together.
