About:
What matters most? Family, of course! Over its nine hit seasons, Family Matters brings us a hilarious slice of middle-class Americana -- along with one of TV's wackiest characters, nerdy genius Steve Urkel. The extended Winslow family redefines the word "togetherness" as their home splits at the seams with chaos, confusion and laughter.

The irony is that Reginald Vel Johnson has no children in real life yet he was one of the greatest TV Dads. He was a father figure to so many 90’s children who didn’t have one. He showed what a great father and police officer is supposed to be. He taught us to be responsible, loving, and taught us the importance of using good judgment. Carl Winslow will always be a part of our childhoods. ❤

@JamesSmith-jq6om Not personally. I met him at Comic Con about 6 months ago. We talked about the TMNT for a minute, but to cut the story short, I asked him what it was like working with James. He said James was one of the best people he ever had the honor of working with. He said he was a big guy. 6'3, 320 pounds, but just had an absolute heart of gold. He also said that during the filming of The Fresh Prince, in between takes, he would talk to the audience in his Shredder voice, and the people loved it.

Reginald Vel Johnson and Jo Marie Peyton had amazing chemistry together as Carl and Harriet. Specifically, I always found their dynamic funny when Harriet would somehow make fun of him, usually something about his weight or eating, but then there was also a little bit of affection snuck in.

@2ndCitySES17
@2ndCitySES17 2 ай бұрын
The problem is, the media doesn’t want to allow for that anymore. They’re happier pushing stereotypes. They would never put a Carl Winslow, or a Uncle Phil back on TV. These were portrayals of success, in work and family. Overall, they were good men. That more than anything is sorely needed in this word. As Uncle Phil once said, “I didn’t know there was a penalty for success”.

7:05 -- The thing that I've always found crazy with this scene, is that when you think about it, Carl literally had two opportunities to arrest Eddie for under-aged drinking, and didn't do it. We could only imagine how doing so would have affect both Carl and Eddie, let alone the entire family. I can only imagine how cops handle it, in arresting their own kids, let alone a loved one, for the same thing.
