Eine kleine Jazz-Oper hat die US-amerikanische Pianistin und Komponistin Carla Bley rund um das Thema Lernen geschrieben: "La Leçon Française". Sie erzählt von einer englischen Schulklasse im Ringen mit den Herausforderungen der französischen Sprache. Mit der NDR Bigband, dem Neuen Knabenchor Hamburg und Steve Swallow feiert die Jazz-Ikone im Juni 2016 im Rolf-Liebermann-Studio ihren 80. Geburtstag.

This is fantastic!! Everybody is on their very best behavior, including the sound engineers and camera people. I attended a concert of the Carla Bley Big Band in Cologne, late 1980, early 1990th - it was spectacular. This is so refined, so beautiful. Thank you, NDR.
