I completely agree with the comments below. If there isn’t a reputable shop nearby and you like to customize your vehicles, it’s time to invest some money in tools first. All quality aftermarket parts will come with instructions, you just have to sacrifice a weekend to install it correctly allowing time to triple check your connections are properly torqued and test drive it before doing 80 on the highway for your Monday work commute.

It’s all down to the installer. I had a 1/2ton truck lifted 16 years ago. I got the most thorough system I could get my hands on as well as replaced a lot of the steering components and other tired suspension components. A week later the rear axle came off. Yup, rear bumper on the ground. The installer put the ubolts parallel to the leaf springs and turned the top plate sideways . I’m a self employed carpenter, I say that to say I’m a fellow get dirty for a livin tradesmen. I’ve done a fair amount of my own vehicle repair when I was in between reliable mechanics. It’s my observation that these aftermarket companies make really detailed, easy to follow instructions, with pictures! You really got to put in effort to screw up that bad. It been my experience that to find a great auto shop is SUPER HARD. I would be furious to spend top quality dollar only to have a knucklehead screw it all up. I’m gunna send this to every kid on the job that is “gunna lift” their truck. Show the value of experienced, knowledge installation. I hope to see more “shame on you” stuff. Sometimes people can be so thick, that it takes someone rubbing their nose in what they did on a public forum to get them to change for the better. It unfortunate, but true.

New kits, just more justification to add to the tool chest. I'll purchase tools that I can reuse and do the work. Multiple Floor jacks, several jack stands, c-clamps, etc... now add the larger impact socket sets, wrenches, etc. No more satisfaction than doing your own work, plus your know your Truck that much better with each project. Put on 2.5 ReadyLift Ft Spring set, not quite as advertised, next remove and replacing with a Cali Pintop set... all good!

Great video. I wish I had a trusted body shop. Off road mafia in Atlanta ripped me off my money, they installed a 6 inch lift in my 2018 Cummins and was a nightmare driving that truck. I pay 7,800.00 bds 6 inch kit and tires, I brought my own wheels. Bad service for that money.

You couldn't be more accurate. I had a local shop install my BDS 2" kit and I literally had to go through everything with a fine tooth comb. What lead me to do that is a long story but it is definitely hard to find a quality shop these days that cares more about their work than getting paid. I'm ditching my BDS kit and going with Icon springs and custom tuned Fox FRS 2.5s with DSCs. I'm installing everything myself so I'm not throwing money down the drain at a shop. It's amazing how things can be done correctly when the directions are followed 🤷🏽‍♂️

Great video man! I just picked up some Carli Suspension parts and while they're great quality, I have to say the instructions were extremely lacking in a few very key areas. My track bar drop bracket for my truck didn't have any instructions at all in the package.

I would wager that this is an industry wide problem. Carli’s installers are based primarily on the west coast. Since they’re a smaller company in California, it makes sense. As you make your way to the East coast, the number of competent shops drops dramatically.

I didn't trust any shop to do mine. I did mine right, and sure enough the alignment was done improperly by a local shop. Had to fix that myself too.

Look at everything, all the diagrams, etc on CJC Offroads website. Make sure all the parts look like their photos, check torque values after a few hundred miles. If you don't own a torque, there's a good reason to buy one lol. It seems daunting, but it's really easy you just gotta get in the and drop that axle. Tons of videos on KZbin. Only goes back together one way.

Bro, I'm in Arizona and looking at one of these (similar) systems for my 1997 5.9 12valve. 2wd (I know completely over kill since I'm not off-roading). But I do a lot of wood cutting, camping, trailer hauling over nasty dirt roads and I have been wanting a lift kit and smoother/ more durable suspension and ride. I'm on a mission to drive my truck to a few shops that have KZbin channels. Number 1, to have upgrades done by the guys that make them and or have put out TONS OF FREE VIDEO CONTENT to us that have helped the truck community in so many ways. As well as to support them with my business for the hundreds of hours that they put up here on KZbin. My goal for next year is to hit Power Drive Diesel boys in Utah, then make my way over to Texas. I have been looking for an excuse to take a road trip to Texas- Now I have one. Cheers!

Not too sure where you live but check out CJC Off-road located in Bellflower California. Those guys know what’s up when it comes to installing Carli kits and sizing the appropriate wheel and tire on the truck. Check out their KZbin channel 😎

CJC is a great place to find info, but don't rule out local dealers that have been doing this a long time as well. In light of CJC and Top Tier taking the WD approach, Dealers, like myself are getting serious about service and making the installs better for the end user. CJC has done an amazing job, but they aren't the only resource out there.

I have been a dealer for Carli Suspension for over 5 years now and cut my teeth putting these kits in and building an off road shop off of that brand. It isn't even something every off road shop can handle. Us as dealers still turn to CJC and Top Tier or even Carli to make sure the installation processes are solid. This is because the parts are well designed and require extra steps and care when installing. We have appreciated the support from the WD guys and as an end user the customer gets a better network of installers as the WD will help to push product knowledge and instructional videos to all of us. Hope you know we as a dealer want to make sure the install is done and done well. Thanks for commenting in, maybe one day this channel will be as informative as theirs 👊👊

It's obvious they didn't follow the instructions at all. I know first hand that a Thuren kit comes with detailed instructions, so a Carli kit must as well. If there's anything left out, there's always their website and customer support too. Also, if they have not regard for torque values and or don't know how to use a torque wrench; they don't care about someone else's safety.

Yeah, I was burned and taken for a ride on my Carli Pintop. Wish I had seen video but install was in Early November of last year. Navasota Custom shop or so they claimed installed shocks wrong side. Never torqued track bar. And I was driving 1200 miles back to NC. Brake fluid everywhere. Fixed it myself like I should have but was working in TX at the time. Embarrassing As fellow Texan to state a TX shop has same standards as a NC shops. It's on me for not waiting although I had waited for 6 months on kits. Too excited chewed some Benjamin's.

Find a shop that doesn’t pay their guys flat rate. Those flat rate techs are more likely to cut corners and rush the job to get it done faster. At my shop there is probably 1 accessory guy out of the 4 that’ll do the job right.

Shocks are holding the axle? I guess that track bar is just for show then? 🤣🤣 If the weight of that axle was actually being held up by a pair of Kings, I wouldn’t think a reputable shop would keep it in the air until it was fixed. Unless the weight is being held by the track bar…and those limiting straps are meant to limit axle articulation. But hey, any lie for views and content I guess.

So by saying that, I remove the track bar and then what? What’s holding the axle? If the limit straps weren’t there and the truck was let’s just say jumped, what would happen. The shocks would be holding the axle. And if they were extended hard enough could pull the shock to failure. So cute laughy faces. Garage guy tv, huh. Well we can all be wrong a little. But calling me a liar……grow up bro. I don’t have that many views to boast anyway and my points are all legit. But go ahead and split hairs on my comments all you want. Put your laughy faces and know that although the track bar is providing support. The shocks are what will be the end of the rope without properly installed limit straps. This guy got a poor install, we simply pointed out the items and expressed using a legit shop.

This is why I'd rather do it myself. Go slow. Take my time. Read read read the instructions and do things right. That mentality has served me well in everything I've ever worked on. The work on that truck looks rushed and lazy. Nothing was checked after. The person working on it clearly wasn't gonna be the one driving so why bother caring.
