The strobe is a self defense mode providing a disorienting wall of strobing light. If it was in the spotlight mode, you'd have to be very accurate in your hotspot placement, which isn't likely in a panic situation. Hence only in the floodlight mode. I have the Olight Seeker 4 for use around my property, and the tiny but powerful Olight Baton4 for EDC. Olight now come with a lifetime warranty and they are awesome, reliable flashlights. I'd like to get a Marauder Mini in the next sales. The dual mode feature is awesome, though the Seeker 4 is a great spot and wide spill (flood) beam. The Baton4 is actually almost as good but with shorter run times. Nice video! 👍👍

As of today, May 6th, 2024, this video of yours is UNIQUE. It's because of the following reasons. 1. It compares the Olight Marauder Mini with a car headlight! 2. Besides showing the brightness difference of these 2 light sources using videos, you also show it in LUX numbers. That emphasizes the difference more. 3. You use a thermal camera to show the thermal management of this light . 4. You also mention its LIMITATIONS: When using at its highest output in flood mode for 30 minutes, you lose 26% of its output. No other KZbinr has done all of these things. We need MORE REVIEWERS LIKE YOU. Thank you for such an excellent job.

For me, the Olight designs are nicer than the other brands, almost like an Apple influence, they look and feel better, also work great. I've had too many other brands fail on me. Excellent vid. I've never seen you before this Olight review, and I won't ever watch for car light reviews. You should absolutely do more flashlight vids. Along with having an easily understood approach, for many other reasons you have a "knack" for this. In fact, we all carry lights in our car, so maybe you could expand to include (unlimited, I know) good options for EDC and outdoor lights that are good to have in the car.

Thanks, Jeff. Kinda of a weird situation...I spent countless hours making car headlight upgrade videos over the past year (the entire goal of this channel), and I see the channel growing pretty good and people getting value from my work. And then, just for variety, I agree to make a video about a handheld flashlight and it becomes one of my most watched videos. At the rate it is going, it will be my most watched videos since I started this channel. I am both amused and amazed. 😄

Just FYI, the Marauder 2 DOES have brighter indicator lights. I’m not sure why they changed.
@CarLightReviews2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that confirmation, Kris. I checked with Olight's engineers when I was making this video and they said it was normal for this light. I do have to be clear that I have direct and bright lighting on my review workbench, and once even in "normal" lighting, the indicator lights are very apparent on both the unit and the charging dongle. But if not as bright, perhaps it is the tradeoff for having the "Mini" and not the "2". I think in real-world usage, a small difference. I do have to admit, I like the charging method of the Mini over the 2, though.... As a Marauder 2 owner, what do you think?
@KrisCox2 жыл бұрын
@@CarLightReviews I don’t yet have the Marauder Mini, but I have (many, MANY) other Olights that use the magnetic charger. The USB-C charging port on the Marauder 2 isn’t really an issue for me, because I know that in addition to the fact that USB-C allows faster charging than does the magnetic charger (even using the 2A MCC-3 that comes with the Marauder Mini), but it also serves as power OUTPUT on the Marauder 2. Plus, the iris camera-shutter closure over the USB-C port is fun (for lack of a better term). Is the magnetic charging system more convenient? ABSOLUTELY, especially for someone like me, who has gobs and gobs of spare magnetic charging cables stashed everywhere, but I don’t consider the USB-C charging to be a barrier.
@CarLightReviews2 жыл бұрын
@@KrisCox I've become a fan of USB-C and I like seeing it become more common, especially on stuff that I use here in my garage. You make a good point...the magnetic charger is convenient, but do we really need more cables?
@KrisCox2 жыл бұрын
@@CarLightReviews I have far more Olight charging cables than I do USB-C charging cables, but I realize that I’m an outlier. LOL Olight ships a charging cable with each of its lights (except for the Obulb Pro), whether that’s USB-mini, USB-C, or one of their proprietary magnetic cables, so that you don’t have to wonder if you’ll be able to charge the light. (I assume that the Obulb Pro is aimed at OFans who, like me, already have multiple Olights at home; I’m not sure why it’s not included with that light.)

@@CarLightReviews I have both the marauder 2 and marauder mini even got the xr9 marauder but that’s a different story. I love both the 2 and mini. The 2 is a little fat the mini fits my large hands perfect the size and weight just amazing. While I like the party trick of the charging port swirling open in the 2 I prefer removable battery in the mini. Although the 2 is obviously brighter the mini is freaking bright and most people seem to like the round spot light over the square of the 2 but I kinda thought the square was unique. Overall my two favorite olights with seeker 3 pro third. The xr9 while being insanely bright it’s just too big and heavy for any practicality. I wish they made some kind of removable cap that covers the magnetic charge port tho as I work in steel and the magnets in all my olights suck the metal shavings up.
