It always amazes me how you get the joints so accurate. Also watching Kris Harbor building his barn and all the joints and tenons and mortices etc all fit nicely. Whenever I made mortice and tennis joints the tendons always ended up to thin and would slip in and out like throwing a banjo down a hallway lol.😂

I understand that building the boat is primary, the camera angles have much to be desired in the last several episodes. So many things are being missed by just slightly poor shots. @billyblobb673 жыл бұрын
Hopefully the boat will be stiff enough that they won't crack.
@petermulville55633 жыл бұрын
The cabin trunking or house sides will add a huge amount of stiffness.
@ScottKenny19783 жыл бұрын
Considering that Alix is doing dips on them and they aren't flexing, plus they're going to have about 2" of deck on top and the house side, it's plenty strong.
@AcornToArabella3 жыл бұрын
Exactly, Scott and Peter. The removed material is not a void, and all the parts of a boat work in chorus-the house side beams are made stronger by the side deck beams (carlins), which fill those notches.
@Tillersweep3 жыл бұрын
I resisted this long but I can't any longer. You guys need a $10 tub of sidewalk chalk sticks (surveyor's chalk sticks will work). Rub all over one end, fit it into the slot, wiggle, remove and cut away the colored smudge. Easy, peasy.

Thank you again ship is looking great. I have a question. Are you monitoring the shape of the haul? As you add weight to the outer deck structure is gravity pulling things outward. I remember Steve talking about keeping an eye on things earlier in the build especially over the length of the boat. With tempature and humidity cycles wood can do some funny things. Also how long did it take Atkins to build his boat. Did he have a larger crew of shipwrights working with him. It would suck to realize Arabella had become the victim of gravity and humidity.
