i just got a carlinkit . i use iphone 13. but when i connect my phone with carlinkit, it cannot connect it to carplay . so i cannot do iphone -> carlinkit-> carplay. while i use BT to conenct to carlinkit, it will ask me to turn on wifi, once i do that , it wil connect my phone directly to car's carplay.

Thank you for the video, I have been looking at purchasing one of the carlinkit units for a while now. I have my BYD seal only a couple of weeks away. The apps look like they run very smooth, how is the quality when making calls? Is there any lag or delay? I have used a quad lock unit before and the call speaking delay was quite bad.

I haven't tried out making phone calls on my Android Auto running on top of Carlinkit on top of BYD Seal yet. Will try that out and see how it goes. KZbin audio on Carlinkit is really good, no lag when I binge watch KZbin in the Seal. Once again, it's because mine is the 8GB RAM model with faster Qualcomm processor which I believe made a difference, oh and it's latest bluetooth version 5 all makes a difference.

@@chickenguts3819 I have the same box and had a Carlinkit 4.0 before this one. The phone call lag is improved but it still is there, although it is really quick. Sometimes you notice it when you want to speak and the other person speaks at the same time. What I find the most disturbing is the fact the android system has to boot and then the apple carplay boots. It takes roughly 35 seconds from starting the car to getting into carplay functions.

Yes that's why I love connecting my Windows laptop to my Samsung Tablet at the coffee shop and work on my Google Doc in my car with Carlinkit. Unfortunately, this carlinkit I have got doesn't have another USB port for me to connect up to my computer to run Super Display Android App (play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kelocube.mirrorclient&hl=en&gl=US) not affiliated with them. If not this would be perfect to use my BYD Seal 15" display as my second laptop monitor.

I tested it out. This is what I did. Started my Seal, rotated the screen to portrait, plug in the Carlinkit to connect it, when Carlinkit loads up as Apple Carplay, the screen automatically rotated back to landscape. So no, even though carlinkit can run on portrait, BYD does not allow Apple Carplay (it thinks Carlinkit is apple carplay) to run on portrait.

I am not sure, but based on my research, it should work. Just make sure you confirm BYD Song Plus works with wired apple carplay, as that is the interface carlinkit uses. Any car that supports wired apple carplay, this carlinkit should work in theory.

Have you paired your phone directly to the the BYD infotainment directly using Android Auto or Apple Carplay before you got your Carlinkit? If so, you will need to unpair it from the BYD Bluetooth device list and also unpair it from your phone. After that you can then plug in the Carlinkit,

In my opinion, the BYD infotainment is integrated with lots of controls like ADAS safety systems and driving feature. I don't think it's a good idea to side load. Side loading apps may take up more of its processing power and we have to manually update the apps, and if we download apps from unreliable sources, means we run the risk of cyber attacks. Carlinkit is another device with its own CPU and memory and its downloading apps from Google play store. So easy update and safer. BYD can't deny warranty too saying we side loaded app.

Try using the USB-A to C cable instead of the USB-C to Ccable to connect to your BYD Seal. BYD Seal USB-C is only a charging port doesn't carry data. Hope this helps.

BYD Seal does not have the wireless connection of Car Play with iPhone (an absurd thing considering the level of the car), this requires it to occupy the only data port of the car. I have a 2 terabyte USB stick with all my music and I have to choose whether to connect my iPhone with CarPlay or listen to music from the stick. I don't know if this product could solve my problem, or alternatively if there is another product that can do it.

Yes, Carlinkit does not come with the data sim card, you will need to get a sim card from your phone company. If you have data share sim plans, you can request another data sim card for free. That's for Australia mobile carriers.

Yes, it's an update thing, but maybe not be OTA update. When I first got my Seal with an older version I could not swipe up from the bottom, see this earlier video kzbin.info/www/bejne/d6qko4yKnNuVY5osi=4uDihGobNrwyZ05v&t=139 After that when I send the car back for first 3 months service, they updated some internal modules for me, and I received an OTA update a couple of weeks later, see this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqjXkmedmtKgetU and then I have this feature of swiping up from bottom. So I am not sure if it's OTA update or the service center update. Any way, yes you can't do it because it's older version of software, hopefully you will be able to update soon.

Does this mean that only those like me who have installed carlinkit before the BYD update will be able to continue to use Carlinkit? Today, I am still able to watch KZbin and use all the apps on carlinkit even after I've done the update.

It fails to detect the T-Box Ambient when plugged in to both ports. So it doesn’t work now
