Corrections and Clarifications: George apologises wholeheartedly for his comment about Carlisle United's pitch, which is an award-winning beauty. David Mitchell and his team are architects of the turf, giants of the grass, and Mike Williamson's 500+ passes per game will be completed without a single bobble.

Carlisle United pitch is one of the best in the EFL. Its an absolute carpet our groundsman gets annual awards for it. So that is a terrible take, I don't care if we play out form the back, route one or anything just need results for now! Very happy with MW coming in onwards and upwards!

Spot on, clearly a large percentage of it is Williamson wanting to get further North, it's a good three hours closer. Plus, a small part feels like Williamson knew he had a few small question marks over him at MK Dons, jump before you can be pushed in this line of work.

Maybe mile Williamson fancied being at a real club with history, rather than franchise fc 😅

Most fans are very happy about this, CU, I'm really not sure. We have a chronically slow team with terrible pass completion stats. We have been beaten by team after team that puts the ball into the corners and then crosses at will. Williamson's defensive stats are shocking. It just feels like a huge risk at a time when we can't be wrong. I'm sure 21st century pundits' noses will turn up, but a neolithic Keith Curle or John Coleman would be virtually guaranteed to get us to 10th, and we can work from there. We've got 3 Carlisle guys running the show at the moment. Why not an 18-month contract for Coleman and part is he trains our guys up. It will be great or terrible. If its terrible, what then?

I’m an MK fan. Not upset about this whatsoever. His football didn’t work, his record in big games is shocking, and there’s next to no connection with the fans. To get a compensation fee for him feels like a win-win for both sides

@@theskidmarkoforion4829 Apart from AFC fans (75% of whom were NOT there 1977-2004) who in their right mind gives a toss about MK beyond the two times a year they play them ? The history is complex-Sam Hamam is as-if not more-guilty than Winkleman for WFC's demise-took them away from Plough Lane-got Merton Council to remove the recreation clause on it so he could flog it off (and the general population of Merton weren't that bothered about it) had no intention of ever going back-his schemes were to move to Dublin or-weirdly-build a stadium in Baisingstoke. Dublin Dons / Baisingrad Dons ? The only argument-beyond the childish we hate MK tropes is to say that WFC should have been liquidated in 2002,an extra Conference side promoted to keep the 92 club structure,WFC reformed as they did and MK would have had to go up via promotion if they wanted league football. Another irony-AFC were so desperate to get back to Merton they ignored planning warnings and built the new Plough Lane on a flood plain-which even has local markers showing previous flood levels. Now they've got a sink hole and a ground likely to flood from time to time. Where will they go-again ?
