I think the drop shot is going to change tennis to a much more offensive, attacking game again. The last 20 years players have gotten too comfortable just pounding the ball standing 5-10 feet behind the baseline. Alcaraz's use of the drop shot is going to force other players to start using it more, forcing everyone closer to the baseline which will lead to less defensive tennis, more winners, shorter rallies, more going to the net, etc.... That's my hope anyway. Otherwise it'll just be Alcaraz that does it and if no one else matches him he'll dominate the sport by himself for the next 15 years.

I've never seen a player at that level (top 5) who can win so many points with drop shots in the same match ! It's just astounding ! Usually when you drop shot too many times, it ends up being counter productive, your opponent gets used to it and you lose, but here Alcaraz is always RIGHT ! Not only that but he's doing that on clay court and against Tsitsipas !!!! Tsitsipas is not an average player, especially on clay! I don't think even Nadal was that good at drop shot, I mean he was good, but here that's another level... Alcaraz basically won more points using drop shots than using normal forehand... What the hell ??? That tells you not only how good his forehand is, how confident he is, knowing he can pull the trigger either way, how opponents are scared of Alacaraz 's forehand, and how fast and smart he is when he decides at the very last second he can switch for a drop shot because he already knows it's a win ! Cabeza.

Carlos executed his gameplan perfectly. Stefanos needs to continuously guess where Carlos will send the ball to. It’s either deep and sharp into a corner. When Stefanos anticipates and goes into a direction, then Carlos just hits the dropshot in the opposite direction. If Carlos is able to keep his level and doesn’t make to many unforced errors, then he drives any opponent nuts. When Carlos played against Sinner last time, Carlos wasn’t at his best to execute his way of playing and Sinner could read every move, and for sure Sinner played an incredible match and it wasn’t the first time Carlos lost a match to Sinner. He seems to have an antidote to neutralize Carlos. But I have said it many times already, Carlos changed the tennis game in how it is played. At least when he plays a match, due to the way he is able to dominate with his gameplan. There is currently no other player where you could this so clearly. That’s why his matches are so exciting to watch. All eyes are on Carlos going into Roland Garros, Novak will be a contender as he is hard to beat in a best of 5-set play. If Nadal is fit he is hard to beat on his own court…so we will we have to see how it unfolds.

Hopefully another player will come along to challenge him and a proper rivalry develops but right now only rune and sinner have challenged him. Alcaraz just perfected the drop shots and they are now one of his main weapons. Other playes started to use this weapon too, like Tsitsipas, because they see , that it works. Which means more players will be using it, so then they need to be more fast and to play more smart game . Also Lobs and Stop volleys are great weapons , if perfected.

When you see a player fist bumping on a bench before serving for championship tells he has confidence and the match is in his control. Alcaraz lost only 4 points in 2nd set service games. Looked for one break of serve only to keep his own to win the match.
