My father always called him the Mexican Stravinsky. LOL.

I like that! But I think that would be Alberto Ginastera out of the latin american composers I know of. His Panambi is like Rite of Spring in some ways I think...

Everyone refers to the each one´s favorite. Mexican Stravinsky could be Silvestre Revueltas, or Carlos Chavez, or Alberto Ginastera from Brazil. There is not such thing as Mexican "international composer" version. Just composers

I think that sounds like Chávez himself modestly...

One thing I love so much about Chavez is that at one and the same time he is challengingly Modern and also accessible. A rare balance.

It´s strange, but i can listen some fear to repetition. Always are things moving, or talking here and there. But why to avoid more contemplative themes, or letting breath the orchestra. Always moving...

You are right! This is a re-working of Llamadas, an orchestral piece written by Chávez in 1934.

Yes, according to the liner notes on the CD (Musica Mexicana. Vol. 7) on which this work appears, the work ‘dates from 1943 when the composer completed it and entitled it “Llamadas” (Calls). In 1967 he made some alterations to the sore, separating out the first part, “Mañanas Mexicanas” (Mexican mornings), and adapting it for band.’ The notes definitely state that “Llamadas” was written in 1943, not 1934.

you're right! I do not understand why Chavez has written a piece of music so popular. At that time he wrote music more modernist.

Like Liszt evoked Chopin and Beethoven Mozart, each composer who has studied others will eventually have his/her own sound.
