Some History:
The 2 mile (3,218.69 meters) is a historic running distance. Like the 1 mile it is still contested in some Invitational Meets in the United States and Great Britain. It has been superseded by the 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters. The IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations) currently known as World Athletics no longer keeps official World Records for this distance, they are called World Best instead.
The Men’s 2 Mile event kicked-off at 13:56 (local time), The temperature range that day was between 13°C - 26°C (55°F - 78°F). The City of Eugene is located at an altitude of 131 meters (430 feet) above sea level.
The event featured sixteen runners, twelve of them Tokyo Olympians, in the 5,000 m and 10,000 m distances:

Side Note: Joshua Cheptegei won the World Junior Championship at the old Hayward Field in 2014, Cheptegei is a 2X Olympic Champion in the Men’s 5000m (Tokyo and Rio); Cheptegei is the Reigning World Champion in the Men’s 10000m; Cheptegei is the holder of Four World Records: Men’s 5000m (Monaco 2020), Men’s 10000m (Valencia 2020), Road 5 km (Monaco 2020), Road 15 km (Nijmegen 2018). The Men’s 5000m Tokyo Olympic Champion Joshua Cheptegei (Uganda) looked relaxed throughout the Men’s 2 Mile race, he looked as if he went for a jog around the park, when the going got tough Cheptegei took the lead and drove the pace, with his adversaries struggling to keep up.
The Ugandan Superstar Cheptegei crossed the Finish Line in 8:09:55, THREE TENTHS of a second faster than his nearest rival The Men’s 10000m Tokyo Olympic Champion Selemon Berega (Ethiopia).
For Cheptegei his winning time represented a World Leading in the event.
