The Men's Pole Vault Final featured six competitors, five of them Tokyo Olympic Finalists, including the Olympic Champion Armand Duplantis (Sweden), and the Olympic Silver Medalist Christopher Nilsen (USA), and Reigning World Champion Sam Kendricks (USA).
About 20 minutes at the end of the video show former LSU Tiger Duplantis' buddies waiting for him to break the World Record.
Well, everyone is waiting for the Officials to set the bar at the correct height, which is done as it was done in 1896 🙂, with manual instruments and relying on eyesight. Cool, it just adds to the excitement of the Mythical Event.
What could be cooler than having your Olympic Champion / World Record Holder buddies cheering for you while you attempt to break a World Record?
I thought I would leave the aforementioned part of the video instead of clipping it and sticking to the essence of the competition.
The Competitors for the Men's Pole Vault and their Cleared Heights:
1. Armand Duplantis (Sweden, Meet Record), 6.06m
2. Sam Kendricks (USA, Season Best), 5.93m
3. Timur Morgunov (Russia, White Flag, Season Best), 5.93m
4. Ernest John Obiena (Philippines), 5.83m
5. Christopher Nilsen (USA), 5.83m
6. KC Lightfoot (USA), 5.83m
