Re: dreamja vu--Carl, I know exactly what you're talking about. I used to see the future in my dreams pretty often. It was never anything actually important like a big event of major life decision or such, just like a reaction someone had to a specific phrase or a conversation I had with them. I would dream it, forget about it, and suddenly recall the entire dream instantly just after the event detailed in it started to actually occur. I don't know if it's technically a different thing or not from deja vu in general, but I know what it's like.

Most people feel like they experienced some kind of prophetic dreams. But it's really just a bit of a memory glitch. Studies were done that had people write down everthing they could remember about dreams upon waking. The number of people experiencing a feeling that they in some way saw the future in a dream dropped to zero.

So glad I stayed until the end for those sick drawings. You should get those framed. Also, possible explanation for things from dreams happening in real life later. Your dreams tend to manifest your subconscious mind's processing of recent events or concerns. So you'll often have dreams that act out possible scenarios that you are preparing for mentally, again not consciously. So from time to time, those scenarios will end up playing out in real life. Sometimes it's something obvious, like finding a solution to a puzzle you were thinking about. Occasionally it's just something really random and it feels like you saw the future, but really, it's just a coincidence because you had a realistic dream that actually panned out, even though it didn't seem realistic to your conscious mind at the time. Or it was a dream you forgot about until the same thing happened in real life.

When I was in grade six I was given a short story project that required me to write a story based on the picture that was given, the picture had a girl looking in shock at these monkeys on her counter, I later found out that it was the front cover art of the book Jumanji. Not knowing what Jumanji was at the time I started to write my story. I found the story a week ago and read it over again and I swear to god it is almost word for word identical to the semi-new movie that came out last year. Well anyways Carl it was fun watching you suffer in yet another addition to Sean Hip2's beautiful collection hope for more in the future!

De ja vu, and "dream ja vu", if there is such a differentiation, used to perplex me, all the time. I used to get bouts of de ja vu frequently, sometimes it'd feel like entire 10-20 second moments had all happened before. So, obviously, this is a very hard thing to prove or do research on, but the hypothesis that best explained it, and somewhat put it to rest in my mind, was the idea that de ja vu is simply a representation of your memory system itself going awry. You are mistakenly thinking something has happened before when really it's happening for the first time. Your brain, being the incredible and amazing organ it is, is certainly not infallible and more than capable of "pulling a fast one" on any of us at any time. To me, that explanation is more than suffice, but it is fun to think about the more farfetched things and parallel universes, etc. :)

Actually I remember reading that the dream-ja-vu stuff is when there's an issue between experiencing an event and the event reaching your occipital lobe. So you create two copies of the same experience, and the second one feels like the first one when you 'see' it.
