Caruana's commentary is a slap for those who thought he just memorises engine lines. His calculation depth is insane, he's just not as fast as his contemporaries at it. Still faster than like 99.99% of the chess players around the world

@@kramlyn2412 it's more an indication of Magnus being too damn good. Caruana has gotten so much hate for being an engine boy because he's a bit worse in faster time controls. Public thinks Magnus being great at classical and blitz is normal. Caruana is too damn strong and drawing 14 games with Magnus is really good

8:10 key moment indeed 24..c3? is a decisive error. please note that this is a super complex position 24..bxa4 would be met by Carlsen's idea 25 Bxh7+!! Kh7 26 Qh5+ Kg8 and then 27 Rd4!! rook lift .. White threatens Rh4 followed by Qh8 checkmate. An amazing variation. 27 ..Qe7 28 Rh4 Qxh4 would be the only way to stop mate: White gets a queen for 2 rooks. amazing live show and recap by GMs Caruana,Hess and IM Danny Rensch. There is a problem with Rf7, but let's talk about it a bit. Rf7 is met by Nxf7 Qxd4 Qh8+ Kxf7 Qxb8. This would be a horrendous blunder for White. But why isn't Rf7 a good move compared to Qe7? This would be because, White doesn't have to play Nxf7. White instead can play Rh4! Renewing a checkmate threat, and simultaneously wins a rook after Black defends. Kf8 Qh8+ Ke7 Qxb8. And white is winning due to the knight blockade and Black's bad bishop
