Carly's Scary Crash At Coos Bay Speedway....(Sprint Car)

Night #2 of ISCS Week of Speed kicked off from the Coos Bay Speedway in Coos Bay, Oregon. Carly Holmes (my younger 14 year old sister) had a great night at the track until she was involved in a scary crash in her sprint car in turns 1 and 2. Carly was ok and able to climb out under her own power. We will repair the car and get ready to compete in the next 5 nights of competition to finish out Speedweek with the 22C.
The Coos Bay Speedway is a 1/4 mile dirt track located in Coos Bay, Oregon.

This is why everytime you unload that racecar you have to accept the fact that you can write the whole deal off that night. Nothing she could have done any different in that situation. It's racing and it happens sometimes. Glad she's doing ok.

Yes, not only to they add to traction with down force they act like an air bag when you scuff the shiny side up on the track. I like winged sprints over unwinged sprints by light years.

Most impressive to me (other than Dad's speed down the straightaway and that hard left turn ) was Carly working on the car as soon as it got back to the pit. That girl is a racer. No ifs ands or buts.. she is a Racer.

Apologies for arriving so late on this, but just glad Carly is okay. That track is rather like my home track (Archerfield Speedway, Brisbane, Australia), where pretty much every track is a quarter-mile (400 metres).

Some good quality driving up till the crash carly, close to the rear of other cars but still holding your line fearless, it was great. As scary as it may be try to keep your eyes open until you absolutely know your not making the gap, next time you might have that fraction more room to sneak through but if you close your eyes you will never see the option.

You have to remember when driving open wheel cars. There are people who have dumped it, and people who haven't, if you race enough its going to happen. Glad shes ok. Good thing she now knows what happens.
