Lyrics:
Baby sneezes
Mommy pleases
Daddy breezes in
So good on paper
So romantic
But so bewildering
I know nothing stays the same
But if you're willing to play the game
It's coming around again
So don't mind if I fall apart
There's more room in a broken heart
You pay the grocer
You fix the toaster
You kiss the host goodbye
Then you break a window
Burn the souffle
Scream a lullaby
I know nothing stays the same
But if you're willing to play the game
It's coming around again

Just so good. Maybe you can help. Since 80s, I've been looking for her song . . I can't remember words but the video, she was swimming in a pool. I think a man came to her door or was standing in her room. It was similar to this song any idea?

I am listening to this at 1:11 on the 30/06/2024(she would have been 70 on the 29th) the morning after my mum’s birthday, she sadly passed on the 31st of October 2023 from a heart attack very sudden and completely unexpected I am still completely broken for this but mum used to play this to me when I was a baby and at the grand age of 39 I still remember it! It makes me both happy and sad all at the same time!!!!

Takes me back to 1987. My Mum and Dad had broken up the year previous. Life went on. I was 13 years old. This song came on the radio yesterday and it took me back all those years ago and I just felt sad. I’m nearly 50 now, very happy in life with a beautiful wife and son. So how does such a sad feeling come over me hearing a song from 37 years ago?

Because this song is clearly about breaking up and trying again. It is sad that people break up at all and have to try again after making a lifetime commitment. And Carly is so richly melancholy in this song; it is a very melancholy situation 😒 laced with a little bit of hope. I am in my second marriage and this song makes me both sad... and glad.

i just turned 43 a week ago, and this song randomly popped into my head and i had to listen to it again! It is a remarkably beautiful song, and indeed, they sure don't release music like this anymore. I remember getting ready for school while Mom got ready for work and hearing this on the stereo along with other awesome 80's songs like "broken wings" (mister miser) or "Caught up in the rapture" (Anita Baker).

Baby sneezes Mummy pleases Daddy breezes in So good on paper So romantic But so bewildering I know nothing stays the same But if you're willing to play the game It's coming around again So don't mind if I fall apart There's more room in a broken heart You pay the grocer You fix the toaster Kiss the host good-bye Then you break a window Burn the soufflé? Scream the lullaby I know nothing stays the same But if you're willing to play the game It's coming around again So don't mind if I fall apart There's more room in a broken heart And I believe in love But what else can I do I'm so in love with you I know nothing stays the same But if you're willing to play the game It will be coming around again Baby sneezes (I believe in love) Mummy pleases (I believe in love) Daddy breezes in (I believe in love) I know nothing stays the same (I believe in love) But if you're willing to play the game (I believe in love) It will be coming around again (I believe in love) I do believe I do believe (I believe in love) I believe in love (I believe in love) I believe in love (I believe in love) Coming around again Coming around again Nothing stays the same (I believe in love) But if you're willing to play the game (I believe in love) It will be coming around again (I believe in love) Oh, I believe in love (I believe in love) Oh, I believe in love (I believe in love) And it's coming around again (I believe in love)

@Carly SIMON : Once upon a time, artists produced quality songs both lyrically and musically. It was a delight for the ears of every music lover. You could listen to it endlessly. Coming Around Again... released in 1986 and still popular in 2023...! The sixties, seventies, eighties... great times...! Big contrast with the current music experience...! Thank you Carly SIMON for this heartwarming masterpiece and may you be well. Greetings from Belgium (Europe) and Florida (USA).

I was younger. It was the 1970’s. I was about five or six years old when I first heard this song on the radio. Even today it brings back too many memories. I didn’t understand the song’s meaning then, and so today the song is even more meaningful today, than it was then. “I know nothing stays the same, but if you’re willing to play the game, it’s coming around again.” Very wise words. I woke up with this song stuck in my head. This past week I lost two precious souls in my life. My best dog ever died of liver cancer. Two days later, my ten year old bunny died. Wendy and Presley were gone in an instant. All that love over all those years. My heart is broken into a million pieces. “Nothing stays the same” came to me in my sleep. Life will go on, but nothing stays the same. It’s going to be some time before I’m coming around again. This song really captures how I feel. Beautiful and sad at the same time.

Coming Around Again” by Carly Simon is a song deeply rooted in the cyclical nature of love and relationships. The lyrics explore the ups and downs of a romantic relationship, illustrating how, despite changes and challenges, love can rekindle if both partners are willing to work through their issues together. This theme is captured in the portrayal of a protagonist who is struggling with the realities of domestic life, particularly in a relationship with a partner who is not fully supportive . Furthermore, the song served as the theme for the movie “Heartburn,” with its lyrics reflecting the movie’s plot and presenting the perspective of the film’s main female character . This association with the film underscores the song’s focus on the complexities and realities of marital life, as it was originally written for a romantic comedy . The opening lines of the song, “Baby sneezes, Mummy pleases, Daddy breezes in,” set the tone, depicting the everyday reality of family life. It suggests that love is not always about grand gestures, but often found in the mundane and real aspects of life . Overall, “Coming Around Again” by Carly Simon is a nuanced exploration of the enduring, albeit challenging, nature of love and the continuous cycles it goes through in the context of both romantic relationships and family life

Such perfect diction. I can understand every word. That has been a huge change in the last 30 years for male and female artists. Nowadays I need the lyric sheet to understand what they are singing

Takes me back to magical times of a great childhood. The 80s were great times, everything so much simpler.

@Benjamin Jobes - The '80s were so much simpler because you were a kid. They were very complicated and stressful times for adults.

I feel ya, bro. I was born in 80. They were the most idyllic, simple, and optimistic times. As a child living in the Middle East around 1987, I can remember riding in my dad's car through a vast desert, the sun setting, my mom's cassette of this coming through the speakers, and feeling like the moment was going on forever. I'm a tatted-up 42-year-old now, a fan of 100s of 1000s of different songs from across endless genres, and sometimes I wander back into this nostalgic space to feel safe and hopeful again. Especially in the crazy world, life, and time of the modern era.

@Peyton Bowen great comment! I find music is normally about memories and feelings. I don't know why but this particular song just got me.

I've loved this song since a young kid in the 70s. I never really paid attention the the verses. Wow, they are absolute poetry!

I listened to this again and again in the 90s. My marriage was sad and we had 3 children. Everybody’s good now. Carly’s song just is so beautiful and still gives me the chills!

I'd just started my first truly permanent job when this was a hit in the UK,at the end of January/February/into March 1987,so it takes me back to those days. Lots of bright, shiny new people to meet but frequently coming home a bit zonked from putting a lot into making sure I got myself established.
