I know I’ll sound pathetic but it’s around 6 am. So much going on in the world, my family, with my life and hearing this song I’m just sitting here crying missing when everyone was still here. When I had so much promise in the future. Please forgive me I’m emotional is all. I don’t really talk to many so here I am a lonely sapp pouring my heart out on KZbin. Wow

Why do you say you sound pathetic? Don't be so self-conscious. What you went through is healthy and cleansing. And on a side note, this song and video are incredibly depressing.

In spring 1987 I went for the first time in my life to Italy. There, sitting in the bus, I met a lovely boy called Fred. We listened to Carly Simon all the way travelling there. We had a wonderful short teenie-love-affair. Now in 2024 I remember those days and the wonderful songs of the 80ies. It were magnificent times.

This was a beautiful song & was so perfect in this movie. A real gem with Meryl & the incomparable Jack Nicholson. 1986, 'Heartburn' Based on Nora Ephrons marriage-I found it terribly touching & sad, even if called a comedy. Highly recommend watching & Carlys songs are such a compliment to the story.

it really is a "CATCHY" tune, I have this on a 45 R.P.M. single, I got it when it was first released. music like this just does not exist anymore, having real musicians, backed up with people that can play real instruments. this is back in the day before "AUTOTUNE. DRUM MACHINES, COMPUTORS", if you ask me "the music today SUCKS"!!!!!. the problem is the recording companies do not want to spend the money on production costs!!!. the music industry is full of people that cannot sing( digital tweaking to get the correct pitch)or play instruments!!!!

Ahhhh the 80ies. I was born 1984 and this music does something with my heart. It is the theme of my early childhood. I feel at home hearing it but also incredible sad and a massive loss at the same time. The thought of how much the world has changed although pretty bad shit happened also back then, makes me sad. I think that this is what nostalgia does. You idealize your childhood and everything having to do with it becomes sacred. Untill you realize that it is the same for everyone in their time and with their youth. The idle time when your mom and dad were everything to you, your whole world, and that you never had to worry for important stuff like money, food, rent, taxes, only that mommy/daddy is not angry at you or were to play next, that is never coming back to you. But only if you had good parents. I miss my childhood. It was not perfect but it was a safe haven and I will never feel the security again, I had back then. I am a so called Millennial and my generation is the last one, which run out of the house without a mobile and our parents only could hope we would come back safe and sound for dinner. Don't get me wrong, I am happy for mobiles but I also miss my youth, 80ies and 90ies movies, the people I lost over the years and it is hard to see my parents get old. And now Corona on top of all. Stay safe and sound, guys. The world is getting more and more complex but some things will never be forgotten and never change. That is was keeps me going every day.

Linda...linda...simplesmente linda demais.

I can virtually feel the emotions, smell the smells and remember how I felt at age 31, its like being hypnotised, I was newly living with my soon-to-be first husband, whom I adored and also my then very young son, it was Christmas when I watched this film with them. Both son and husband have since died. This song just is so bitter sweet, I didn't know I had these memories, its amazing how a song and piece of music has simply transported me back to a time in 1987,

Love is something that can suddenly end any time. Is an unreliable thing that can live you with your ass in the ground after you may have invested time, hope, dreams, efforts, devotion, money, carrier and much more. In other words, after you have invested your life. And life is only one, only one shot...and you may have it spoiled with an asshole that promised to love and cherish you for ever and in the end kicked you in the ass without even caring what is going to happen to you and your kids. Bullshit!

Yeah, this song came out when I was a kid and I liked it but I didn't "get" it at all because as a 12 or 13-year-old you don't have any frame of reference to understand the lyrics. But when I heard it again when I was around 30 it was like really hearing it for the first time because I'd been in a marriage that was "so good on paper," things had started out "so romantic" and it was "so bewildering" when it didn't even last four years.
