When I was very, very young, and heard this song, on the radio, the melody always made me cry, because it was so beautiful; now that I have been fortunate enough, to hear it sung, by the exquisite vocals, of Carly Simon, it conjures up all of my memories of this song, and her incredible rendition of this piece of music, and I find myself, playing it over, and over, again. What a class act to one of many classics from the 40’s! So much awesome music from The Greatest Generation! My parents are of that generation and have passed on but have left me and my siblings great memories and a legacy of an appreciation of many genres of music. I picture them dancing to this and many other greats. A little bittersweet for me now but a fond memory none the less. They loved to dance and were pretty smooth on the floor! Thank you Carly for the class act! Great song and beautiful lyrics! What a fond memory for the musicians to be honored to play with you! I played in the Marine Band and we always opened our concert with a couple of Glenn Miller songs for my Commanding General who was a WW 2 Veteran as well as my father and many Uncles.
