A long time ago I took my Datsun to a workshop near work for a wheel alignment because it was pulling to the left. When I went to pick it up the mechanic came screaming around the corner revving the hell out of it. He then said it was not possible to adjust the wheel alignment on that model car. I didn't have to pay anything but driving it home it over heated and was running rough. I had to get it towed to another workshop to get a new head gasket.

Damn. My brother sold his 2006 Lotus Elise to Carmax but he was getting divorced and he got more than he owed by a good sight. They were more responsible with a car that can't negotiate a big speed bump well that's fast with great handling than with your old Jag. There's some benefits to a nationwide dealer of used vehicles especially if you want a car that doesn't feature in the used market in your area [like my 2016 Leaf... EVs have steep depreciation curves out of the lot. I got it low miles and immaculate for a really good price] but at the end of the day you wind up hiring people that Wal-Mart rejected from time to time if you have that many stores and employees. I'd be beyond pissed, but I'd find a creative way to make their failure aid my success. Still, 🤬

CarMax pissed me off because they claim to literally buy or put a offer on any car but I drove a hour to a CarMax last month just to get a offer on my Brand new Volvo. Yes the car was only a week old but I made a apt and I showed up and waited and then they flat out told me they won’t make a offer because they don’t want to and they can’t buy the car. I was so pissed off. CarMax sucks and is a downright rip off. The CarMax stores are so scary big and the people are not nice. They are worse then car salesman so I don’t get the appeal of CarMax. Great video as always!

The bad thing is Carmax takes a lot of vehicles with issues claims they do 150 point inspection and stick them back on their lot at $5000-$6000 more than they paid for it at very high interest. Ive sold cars to them before but I would never buy a car there. They screw people over left and right, especially those with poor credit and can’t get financed anywhere else. Many times these cars crap out before you even pay it off but by then they’ve gotten their money back out of it.

XJS handbrakes do not work like other cars, once on the handle goes back down so it’s not in the way of getting out/in, you have to lift up on it again and press the button to disengage it, no porter is going to know that. You should have shown him or made sure it was off prior to the test drive.

You made a smart move TK. Seriously, Carmax is not bad overall though they markup their cars a lot and i do not trust any dealership to drive my car without me in it first. Had a dealership hold onto my keys to keep me from leaving until they could push me into a car i did not want. I was trading my classic BMW 635csi in for a 1986 Buick Regal "non t-type". They wanted to push me into a nissan sentra. Can you believe that BS? Uh uh hell naw. I told them give me my keys back or I will call the police. They gave them back immediately. Scumbags. M'lady Nissan in Crystal Lake Illinois. If you are from that area or you know the area, avoid them. Deal with Brilliance Honda instead. Them and Gary Lang. Really good dealerships. M'lady is shady as hell.

@@TKsGarage it was overheated. You drove it into the service bay. There were no windows in the block. I’ve overheated (pegged, coolant boiled out) my XJ 4 times and it’s perfectly fine. Car was probably fine, but you would never be able to be sure on that since you weren’t driving it, so probably the best move to dump it like you did. But sorry, it didn’t “blow up.” Just keeping it 100%. 🤷🏻‍♂️

When a car lot test drives a vehicle they do beat on it they want to see and hear all the different rattles and noises that it makes the only way you're going to know what's wrong with a car if you drive it like an old lady you won't hear anything rattle you won't know if it's going to overheat I do the same thing when I test drive vehicles it's how I know what to expect
