@stryfetc1 what are you talking about? Tony showed concern for Carmela. And what a coincidence, for the leg too. Remember the scene, when AJ got back home after partying in N.Y. and Carmela hit her knee, while chasing him upstairs. The moment Tony entered the house, first thing he did, was asking what happened to her leg (she was having ice on it).

I'm not saying it's the pivotal moment of the show, but I think it serves to show that Tony deep down has a lot of capacity for compassion -- manifested here in a mother figure that Melfi acts as a therapist (I think she actually says this herself) . Tony is turned into a monster by horrific parenting and upbringing. The fact he still shows shreds of morality/compassion as an adult is actually remarkable (compared to say Janice, who is thoroughly evil).

This is one of the best arcs in the entire series. Because she knows without hesitation if she told Tony what happened to her regarding the rape and her injuries that that kid would be killed, but she has the resolve to just let it go. It’s fascinating shes really Tony’s antithesis to pretty much all of the morally terrible shit that Tony does.
@igordrakulovic68572 жыл бұрын
Turn the other cheek stuff. I was in hope that rapist would eventually end up in Satriale's prior to 5 am opening. But i guess writers gave us a glimpse of a progressive way looking at things like that brutal rape on the stairs from employee of the month..

@@igordrakulovic6857 I hated that part of the show. Show us the rapist getting beat and murdered. Fuck all that higher road bullshit. When it comes to letting violent rapists go and commit more crimes in an attempt to not getting your own hands dirty than you’re not taking a higher road, you’re responsible for the people they hurt after that. A bit of a rant but it pisses me off and boggles my mind how some people seem to think that violence is never justified. Like here’s a serial rapist or a child molester, you have an opportunity to kill them but some people think it’s morally better to let them continue to hurt innocent people rather than hurt the bad guy and stop them from doing bad things. Makes zero sense
@AverageAlien2 жыл бұрын

Carmella is a gross human. Any chance she gets to influence or power trip on others, she’ll take it. To give her pathetic life some meaning. The unhappy, scumbag gangster mole portrayal is brilliant
@1800aubrey Жыл бұрын
I think you’re misreading her output, she was faintly unimpressed the entire time
@HBICTiff Жыл бұрын
@@1800aubreyNo, if you watched the whole show, you would know that Carmela harbors deep jealousy towards Dr. Melfi for her ability to help Tony on a psychological/emotional level, whereas she could stand the goomars because they were only physical. So, it makes sense she would be annoyed at his visible concern for Dr. Melfi; then soften when she is invited. Carmela’s emotions are very surface level and nearly childlike from all of the years of Tony showering her with gifts.
@1800aubrey Жыл бұрын
@@HBICTiff you’re reading into it way too much. Carmela barely blinks when Tony asks her to join his therapy
@HBICTiff Жыл бұрын
@@1800aubrey Actually, one of the points of this show is reading into each character’s actions to understand their complex personalities. If you look closely, Carmela is staring directly at Tony with pursed lips as he voices his concern for Melfi. When Carmela is invited, she relaxes a little and almost restrains herself, looking away and subtlely agreeing to therapy.

Dr. Melfi's husband (referring to Tony & Carmella): "Gotta be some marriage." Dr. Melfi (thinking inwardly): "Well - "that marriage" would see the wife's attacker getting the shit kicked out of him by the husband. There's always something."

Carmela was so insecure. She hated it when Tony gave any other female any attention. She hated Tony's cheating but absolutely loved the money, house and all the riches and acted like she was entitled to it all.

Only Tony could breathe like he just ran a marathon from just eating a piece of celery.

It's a struggle to eat something as disgusting as celery.
