Carmina boots cost a pretty penny, and the last thing you want to do is get your new shoes and find out you have to return them.
So in this Carmina review, I picked up a pair of their Zip boots on the Rain last and I’m going to share everything I learned about this legendary shoemaker so you can decide if you’re ready to buy.
The Carmina Zip boot built on the Rain last is the nicest dress boot I’ve ever put on my feet. From the materials through the construction, this is a top-notch boot. It’s surprising that it’s Goodyear welted given that it’s so sleek and slim. The finishing on the boot is exquisite.

My favorite dress shoe brand honestly, I have 4 pairs and they are consistently the most comfortable and stylish in my collection. One point though, I’ve watched a few videos of tear downs and Carmina’s being built, and I always thought their shanks were steel, not leather, it would be great if I was wrong, as I prefer leather shanks after my experience breaking in two Nicks boots.

Love Carmina and have several pairs of shoes and boots from them. I have a really wide foot so the only thing they have ready to ship that fits me are a few shoes in the Rain EEE last. I mostly go made to order which has an extra upcharge but you can customize your shoe or boot design to your liking. They waive the MTO fee twice a year during their MTO events.

Ordered a pair of whole cut box calf chelsea on the rain last in March 2023, finally got them in June... They are soooo damn beautiful and well made that I sent them straight to my cobbler to get some sole protectors put on the leather sole. Finally got around to wearing them in July and they squeeze like a mofo! They're my size but something about the boot being narrow does not work for me so now I'm trying to off load them on Poshmark :(. Think I'm going to go up half size and re-order in the next couple weeks or wait for a winter sale if that ever happens

Due to lifelong Orthopedic problems and the need to put orthotics in my shoes, I went to Carmina's store locally at 45th St. in New York, hoping I could get fit with a quality pair of dress shoes that I could fit my orthotics into and wear comfortably. Instead, I was met by a pushy salesman who was just hellbent on selling whatever they had in stock. When I got home and double checked the Detroits he had sold me, I saw that my orthotics were in fact cutting into the sides of the shoes, and would in no time be damaging the linings. Although I could probably get a perfect pair of custom Carminas for myself, I can't trust this company anymore. I'm just taking these shoes back.

Goodyear welting is the standard when it comes to quality men’s shoes. If you’re impressed about Carmina’s detailed and tight sole finishing, wait til you get a hold of Gaziano and Girling’s! Great video and AWESOME boots! They’ll last you for YEARS. 😁

Ohhh brother, you'd better not look at Antonio Meccariello's boots if you think Carmina are really nice. They will cost you much more though, much much more but in my opinion... It's like buying wearable art.
