Carnaby St Undressed 90mins feature documentary, gives great insight into London's iconic Carnaby Street, the street that made London swing. The story of 1960s fashion and music is told by the owners of the fashion shops, the co-creator of Britain's first ever independent record label, and some popular musicians of 'the scene', including interviews with Roger Daltrey (The Who), Donovan, Frank Allen (The Searchers), Gary Leeds (The Walker Brothers), Peter Noone (Herman's Hermits). The programme chronicles how a generation that came out of war torn Britain started a cultural revolution, whose epicentre was Carnaby Street, that changed fashion and music forever.

What wonderful exciting times they were. We had such a great colourful time and we were young. Will it ever happen again ? I'd love to see the young have exciting times as we had. Come on youngsters make it happen 😎

It is the conclusion of the films that the reason for the 60s to have happened was due to the amounts of opportunities that were available at the time. My opinion is that these opportunities were there because of a culling of the population due to WW1 & WW2 with the Spanish flu pandemic in-between. As the corporate world, today is producing the kinds of monopolies and inequalities that existed in the time preceding 1914 and until this situation is lessened, either through another culling of population, which I deeply hope isn't the case or a change of tack, we won't have another cultural explosion and cultural development that we had in the 1960s. Given the chance, the next generation will explode in creativity, colour and amazement, but I doubt very much they'll ever be given the chance.

I worked for the British Automobile Racing Club in the building next to the London Palladium from the late 60s to 1972. Carnaby Street was just a very short walk away. Swinging London, where it was all happening, best time ever. E❤

You also get a glimpse of Paul and Barry Ryan...remember them? My only real experience of Carnaby Street was in June 1967. I was nearly 15 years old and we'd been brought from the Midlands on a school trip to see The Rivals ( with Ralph Richardson, Margaret Rutherford and Robin Ellis, pre-Poldark fame). We had the briefest of glimpses as we made our way to the theatre! I remember seeing posters of Sergeant Pepper in what seemed like every other shop window en route...50 years ago, for heaven's sake!

Indeed. When will people learn - If you love a country so much you want to immigrate into it, then don't drag your former country's clothes, politics, traditions and religion with you.

@@TonyEnglandUK true but look what has happened to places like Spain. British stuff everywhere. We are guilty too. I live in Canada now. My ex's friends moaned like hell when they came over for a visit because you couldn't get British products here.

Now, on the verge of potential World War, and climate disaster...this look back to when aware people advocated for revolutionary change, and love was a driving force. It's all downhill ever since those times.
