We're planning to do one last attempt two run an LPG-fuelled ten-second pass with Turbo Taxi, but we're not looking to spend any money so Scotty has put together an 1000hp capable Barra using parts that are laying around the Carnage workshop.
Street Machine Carnage is all about having fun with cars. Sometimes it's serious performance, sometimes it's crazy fun, but it always interesting and done on a budget.

Lapping in valves. Boy, this video brings back memories of my mechanic days. In the 60’s we were always doing this, rings, bearings and a valve grind and you had to work very quickly or you’d get the DCM from the boss (don’t come Monday). These days the engineering tolerances, metallurgy quality and lubricants are so good that an engine rebuild or even just a “refresh” is a fairly rare event.

Yep, bringing out all the old favourites. You're right engines are so much better now. People keep saying I should do a 265 Hemi, and I ask myself why? They were a good engine for their day but modern engines are just better in most cases. Of course if you build a Hemi well and correct some of it's problems then they are awesome. But the dollars involved are obscene.

Lapped a few thousand valves myself in the 80's / 90's. Got to the point I could wash and assemble a pair of SBC heads in a matter of minutes. You tend to get very efficient after you have assembled a few hundred heads. I used to time myself and see if I could break my own record, but I got to the point it wasn't physically possible to go any faster without risking catching the valve with the retainer. Ahh those were the days, to be young and fit again.

Back in the first lockdown some American man installed Koenigsegg Freevalve tech on his Miata MX5. Basically it removes camshafts and replaces them with actuators to act on the valves. It's a good watch but very complicated.

It's not uncommon to have holes in both. They do it for two reason, it makes it extremely hard to put the wrong shell in the wrong half (but don't ever underestimate a talented fool) , and it means they only have to manufacture one part instead of two.

Those connecting rods do not look like those your showed us Scotty mate, i get it, you want to runs into the 10's low 10's if possible on LPG ,but that will take a lot of power to the ground with the stock weight of the car at least 300 hp more than what she had IMHO. Plus its a 6 speed and also IRS right, so its going to be hard but doable for sure can't wait mate. 👍👌✌🦘😎

If you're talking about the factory rods, that was just a comparison of the stand NA versus turbo/lpg style, but I always said I was using the aftermarket rods. It already makes the power we need, we just need to get it to the end of the track making that power. It's a Taxi so it's only a 4-speed.
