Control can be achieved through increase and reducing lips to lips distance during blowing air without compromising the quality output. There quality of flute make sense. Efficiency of good quality flute helps.
@huibert_geldrop483 жыл бұрын
The good thing about Pahud’s approach is that he does not want you to focus on the lips - this makes them tense - but wants you your nose and throat, like a singer. The flute is a wind instrument, not a lip instrument.

+dasteufelhund yea it sounds "close"', not bright and full
@dasteufelhund8 жыл бұрын
lejedidelingo It's interesting to hear Pahud plays with a more or less standard headjoint/embrouhcure hole position, than most rolled way in to recreate that timbre of Pahud's sound.
@gcg81878 жыл бұрын
ppl roll in to sound like pahud? maybe if they wanted to sound likr robison or buriakov, but I would expect someone to roll out to get that timbre.
@dasteufelhund8 жыл бұрын
To a certain extent yes, it would. But players who lacked the flexilibility because they don't invest time on long tone will run into problem throughout registers playing with the hole rolled in as a fixed set up.

Carnegie Hall, do you have Andreas Blau’s masterclass of the flute excerpt from the third movement of Symphonic Metamorphosis by Hindemith? I used to watch that video all the time, but I can’t find it on your channel anymore. Please let me know!

true.. but kudos to Juhee Kang for standing ground. if she felt embarrassed, she wouldn't have learned anything. we have to let go of our embarrassment and be open to mistakes.. it's a class after all, we're here to learn. :)

I wouldn't. pahud's words would occur to me as "golden advice", rather than "condescending criticism". dude's legit!
@olive4naito4 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean. Pahud is amazing, but because he is more blunt in his manner of speaking compared to other teachers in Master Class, I see a lot of students benefitting more from private or semi private lessons. I would personally be able to take his criticism and direction more constructively if I wasn't distracted by spectators. Obviously his critique and direction is not meant to be embarrassing in any way but it helps if you don't have 100 people watching it all go down. But then again these students are taking the class willingly so I'm in awe of the courage they have to have their flaws laid bare in front of a room full of people.

This is what i don't like about classical music that the individual feeling of a performer is very limited and always composer is the guru of the piece he has written. Then comes the teacher guru and all the individual feelings performer has had about the piece at the start are going out through the roof and are being replaced with other feelings of others which at,the end makes the piece impersonal and filtered I believe which can lead into stiffness listener won't enjoy. Performer need to follow all the laws and stay a humble servant to the boss composer and the master teacher.
@fluierasdefag18005 жыл бұрын
Yeah..some of them are like robots, and without individuality..they are like slaves for composers...ok..i joke...but that is their choice, and they are very hardworking.
@gcg81875 жыл бұрын
Good point
@ccflute4 жыл бұрын
i have always thought that people who prefer subtle differences go for classical music and people who prefer dynamic contrast go for jazz or rock music. if is the genre chracteristic and ultimately a choice of preferance, you can't blame a jazz musician for using jazz chords, you can't blame a classical musician for performing classically. and some people want to enjoy some of both sides so they go for crossover(yup that's me😂)
