Thanks for the honest review! I appreciate it when the review is real. Not everything on every cruise line is the best. I had chicken parm at Cucina del Capitano on Carnival on three different ships and they just could not get it right. Dry and overcooked each time.

Being from Louisiana, we do know the difference between pot roast and gumbo. it would have been great if they called it brown gravy. lol. Thanks ya'll. Hope you are well

So, we're now Floridans, but lived in the Far North of New Hampshire most of our lives so needless to say we have basicaly no appreciation of New Orleans style food. So, what would you suggest we try at Emeril's that is not spicy hot at all but still is authentic New Orleans style food? Maybe there's no such thing as non-spicy New Orleans food but figured you're the folks to ask. Thanks so much for your help...we watch all of your Mardi Gras videos as we sail at the end of September.

I've got a Cajun wife who is telling me she doesn't want to go to Emeril's as she knows she'll be disappointed. Did y'all try the muffuletta? The gumbo didn't look like gumbo, I'll bring some biscuits with me on that one.
@TheTravelingGilberts2 жыл бұрын
It definitely wasn't gumbo. The shrimp and grits were decent . The one thing that it had going for it was that it didn't cost very much. It wasn't steakhouse prices. 5 dollors for most breakfast items and around 10-12 dollars at dinner.
@tiffanyhanson37012 ай бұрын
Did you try the beignets? I had beignets twice in my life. Once in New Orleans many years ago and the second time at Emerils on the Mardi Gras. The beignets at Emerils tasted nothing like what I remember beignets to taste like. They were dense little bread cubes with powdered sugar, not pillowy and light.
@TheTravelingGilberts2 ай бұрын
@tiffanyhanson3701 We have refused to try them for several years now. All of our cruising friends seem to think they are delicious. Being from Louisiana, we are obviously food snobs! Lol Especially, Louisiana food snobs! We gave in on this last cruise, and we should have held out forever. They were not good. That's it. That's all I'm gonna say. We aren't going to rain on everyone's parade, but obviously, you know! 🤣🤣

nothing wrong with an honest review. The scampi wasn't 'executed' properly, like you said: a sizzling hot cast iron is too hot for shrimp b/c it will just keep cooking them. The beignets from Emeril's look good. But if they're charging for these, they really need to make them right.
