"Amber Cove" as you saw is the Carnival port area only Joe. The shopping area is very nice and even has a spot to get your Passport stamped. Great Wi-Fi there and the swimming pools look nice (we actually never spent any time in the pool area). It is 100% worth taking the excursions to San Felipe a few miles away to see and tour the Amber Museum (Jurassic Park) and visit the town square plus the fort. Dominican Republic is known for their fantastic coffee and honey! Our last visit we took a trip up to the top of Mt Isabel (2,700 ft) and saw Jesus plus a thunderstorm hit the mountain BELOW us! EPIC! The mountain is surrounded by a rainforest and several scenes from the movie "Jurassic Park" were filmed there. We love that port to cruise too! There is so much more to do once you leave the port area.

We were reluctant to venture away from the port area since it had been a while since we’ve traveled outside the US and Jaxon’s first trip. I’d love to see more in the future. Sounds amazing!

@@joesomebody1986 Completely understandable. Hopefully next time Joe you will get a chance to visit the Amber Museum so Jaxson can see REAL amber with Mosquitos trapped in them with Dinosaur DNA! He would think it was amazing! It is one of favorite ports!

Maybe it has multiple names, but I know the city near Amber Cove as Puerto Plata. It’s a great little town. The empanadas on umbrella street are excellent.

The beach that you see from there is not considered part of the port. You have to exit the port to get to it. I've seen videos where people have walked to it but they say it takes 20-30 minutes to walk. You can't grab a from the inside of port to it, you have to walk out of the port to grab a cab to it, but then it's a 5 minute ride after that. At least, that's on the KZbin videos I've seen of it. Hope that helps :)

That's what I came here to say. There IS a beach, just not in the port area. You have to exit the restricted area and walk to your left about a mile. There is shopping, restaurants and snack bars along the way, but I would still take a cab.

Man I really enjoy these videos and your editing skills are killer. I will continue to watch the others later. I have thought about doing what you did, staying on the ship in port and then getting off around lunch. Would you do that again? This port looked really nice too. I want to go to this one.

I’m glad you are enjoying them. I put a lot of time and effort into editing but I don’t think that is always noticed by viewers. I didn’t mind getting off the ship later, I would certainly do it again. I would have liked to go to the sky bar before it closed though. We figured the pool area at amber cove would be too crowded in the morning. But it seems some people go early and some go late, so it might be the same either way.

@@joesomebody1986 Yeah I can tell you put a lot of time into it man. Your b/roll changes either the beat of the music. The jump cuts in and out, lots of transitions. I know that’s a hard thing when you pour a lot of effort and feel like it’s not getting noticed. That’s why I wanted to let you know. Sometimes it takes catching lightning in a bottle it seems before it takes off. Stick with it if you enjoy it. I don’t enjoy editing myself. I like showing what I’m interested in. Anyways I didn’t get to finish the end of this video. I had to stop when y’all were in the pool. Will finish it though!

everything is free except the water slides that are now $5 for the day. The Zipline I think is $28 for the day unlimited riding.
