i'm glad to inform you that you do, in fact, have a relationship with your wasps! well...that was weird phrasing... but what i mean is that wasps are very good at facial recognition. they can not only tell specific faces apart, but also associate them with specific people. at this point they have realized you're not a threat to them. wasps are very smart animals (and important pollinators!) we have a ton of wasps around here and they've never stung me, either. i tell my housemates to stop freaking out around them, honestly it's just that simple 😂 or bribing them with a fresh water source. people find it hard to believe, but it's very easy to coexist peacefully with wasps.

It all started when people kept mistaking growing conditions for American Pitcher plants with Asian Pitcher plants growing conditions.

Wasps actually have a pretty decent memory for an insect and are intelligent enough to recognize faces. I've heard from other plant owners that as long as they don't actively disrupt the wasps, they form a harmless relationship like Johnny has with his wasp community.

Idk how well meat eating plants play with Dill, but caterpillars hate dill plants like the plague, and dill really likes moist areas. I dont know a ton but I have watched a tomato hornworm recoil as if punched when I held a dill sprig to its face, when it was unwavering to anything else including sticks. Try planting dill into your pots too!

If no one has suggested it yet, i'd get a hard plastic kiddie pool from Walmart for 10 bucks roughly, and put the pots in it, and it becomes your tray!

I’m planning a bog garden for my soggy Welsh yard. I’ve wondered for years why my carnivorous plants kept dying and it turns out I’ve been doing everything wrong. Low light, keeping them indoors, watering them as tropicals, absolute nightmare. I have a pitcher I picked up from a supermarket and thinking of buying an outdoor started pack from little shop of horrors. Thank you for all your advice!

So I am not a big gardener, just started gardening/planting peppers. My only experience was doing a science experiment for my niece and that was surprisingly successful! Went to Home Depot today and saw that they had Venus Fly Traps. Wanted to take one home, but they looked all rotten. Am really curious about getting some now, wondering how they will do in the Southern California weather.
