A trip down the memory lane. Swissair is no more, the WTC is no more, the B747-300 is no more, the service is no more. The little girl is a grown woman now, the Captain, First Officer and the Mechanic are all retired now. I remember seeing their MD11 on a daily basis in ORD, what a class. The glamour is gone forever.

Ja, es ist traurig. Als Schweizerin finde ich es eine Schande was mit der Swissair passiert ist. Die Verantwortlichen sind nie belangt worden. Banken rettet man, aber unsere Swissair hat man geopfert. Der 11.Sept. werde ich nie vergessen. Ich hoffe, dass die ganze Wahrheit den Amerikanern bald gezeigt wird.

I have seen this a few times and hurts me about Swissair and what happened. But also when the Captain with his crew was in the bus and noticed HB-IWF at 6:14 again heavy and tragic! So much Swiss has been lost and now there is simply nothing to be proud of in the air (my thoughts). It's nothing that it ever was to be proud of. I loved Swissair so much to fly. Loving memories

In the late sixties, SR 110-SR 111 were my regular flights on B 747-200 as a Swiss diplomat's child travelling from GVA to JFK then heading to Washington DC with Branif or TWA...Loved it ! I miss it a lot ! Kind regards 💐

It is a sad fact how mismanagement and arrogance did ground Swissair. Once upon a time one of the finest airlines in the world. Adding up all the miles, I flew several times around the globe with them.

Ich bin stolz, dass ich mit meinen jungen 28 Jahren im Jahre 1989 diesen tollen Flug nach New York bestiegen hab. Das war mir damals nicht bewusst gewesen!

Captain Caro Stemmler gehört zu einer Generation Menschen die man leider nicht mehr allzu häufig antrifft. Höflich, korrekt und zuvorkommend. Ein Gentleman der Lüfte. Er ist nun schon lange im Ruhestand, dass kleine Mädchen dem das Cockpit gezeigt wurde, um die 30 Jahre alt ... die Zeit fliegt. Ein Filminterview mit dem heutigen Herrn Caro Stemmler der rückschauend von seiner Zeit bei der Swissair erzählt wäre bestimmt auch ganz interessant, oder gar das Cockpitmädchen und die anderen aus dem Film alle wieder zu sehen in einer neuen Doku, dass wärs. Auf jeden Fall ein ganz grosses Dankeschön an euch.

1956 New Yorker Flughafen "La Guardia" Während mein Vater darauf wartete, die Crew an Bord der brandneuen DC7C Seven Seas mit der Seriennummer HB-IBK der Swissair-Fluggesellschaft auf der Flugstrecke Zürich - New York über Shannon zu übernehmen, filmte er diese Szenen vom Parkplatz aus mit seiner 8 mm.Ein Super Constellation Lockheed 1049 G "Super G" mit TWA-Lackierung im Taxi und einem Boeing 377 Stratocruiser, der vor der Kamera geparkt ist, während das Flugzeug meines Vaters, der Radio Navigator Nocentini Pietro, ankommt. Von seinem Radiosender aus filmte er die Motoren mit voller Geschwindigkeit, startete von der Landebahn RWYS 4 und flog über die Gewässer des East River.

I miss aviation of the 80s and 90s. So many beautiful birds. I used to fly the MD11 from Varig 3-4 times a year. Loved that bird. And its just not as cool and glamerous anymore. People dont dress to fly, service sucks. everything looks cheap. I miss the days...
