The "Carol & Sis" spots are some of my favorite sketches in the series. I was almost sad to see it go when "The Family" was introduced, but "The Family" is just on another level in every way.

I once came home and heard my mother shrieking in terror in her bedroom. I hurried there without even taking off my coat. Turns out that she was watching something scary on TV. Instead of changing the channel or turning off the TV, she just continued watching and shrieking. I had to go over and turn off the TV myself. And no I don't know what the scary show was. And no, I can't ask my mother. This happened sometime in the mid 1990s, no one else was home at the time, and my mother died in 2003. It was nuts that I had to turn off the TV myself, but in reflecting on it, I think that people sometimes get trapped in an action, or behavior pattern, or in a "frozen" behavior by a strong emotional trigger. This is obviously what happened to my mother that day. When I watch a program that gets too unpleasant I will close my eyes if I want to keep watching the better pars of the show, or change the channel or turn off the Internet. (Haven't had a TV in over 15 years, so I can't turn that off.) You know, my mother not being able to escape from watching that scary show is as scary as any scary show. And what if I had not come home until later. She might have had her first heart attack from the terror, while no one was around to help her.

All the "Carol and Sis"'s sketches are my favorites, even the less fun ones. About this one I think that William Schallert, who played Rober's drunk colleague, was amazing. He makes me laugh a lot every time Roger helps him and he gets emotional. The episode was however the 27th of the first season. 👌😉
