Awesome arrangement and video. Mr. Hollens seems to be so accessible to his fans. I first saw him on Sing-Off and then became re-acquainted with him through his collaborations with HOME FREE! What an awesome talent! Thank you, Sir, for your analysis! I really appreciate your knowledge of music theory and the concise explanations delivered in a very understandable way.

That was just gorgeous! I do remember singing outside in the freezing cold and sometimes dressed full Dickens in 100 degree heat. It's part of the magic of choral singing. It must have been so fun to be able to sing in this group.

This was such a fun arrangement! It was reminiscent of Christmas pageants with a bell and vocal choir working together. I can remember plenty of my childhood Christmas seasons being filled with these sounds through my church and the local college. I remember the smell of cloves and the light from the candles and the amazing music. Thanks, for sharing this one! This is going onto my Christmas playlist!

Awesome arrangement enhanced by not only your analysis, but Peter being kind enough to help me understand his motivation. Again, I would love to hear you sing and play. My take is that you have quite a good vocal range. My father's (a trained voice major) was a baritone that flirted with bass range. Sadly, all the recording of him are lost. Thanks for this time and care you take with all your reactions.

You made my day yet again, SH! And I don't know how I missed this one. I've been a big Peter Hollens fan for several years. I had to go watch it first, so I could watch you watching it (which is always both lots of fun and enlightening), and I was blown away. This is one of my favorite carols of all time, and what an arrangement! Thank you for your wonderful R & A. And huge thanks both for reaching out to Peter, and for including clips from his video back to you. It was so much fun to see his enthusiasm for his arrangement, his appreciation of his collaborators, and to get a window on both how it was filmed, and some of his choices. Outstanding R & A! Thank you for all you do!

Wow! That was absolutely incredible. Layers and layers of "wordless" sound that was more than magical. I couldn't understand the children, the implants in my ears create this kind of feedback effect in the upper frequencies, but it didn't matter as i know this carol well; just absorbing what i did hear was beyond moving. Thank you for singing that bass part, I hadn't noticed it. Once you sang it i was able to pull it out. Didn't notice the harmonic. They always fascinate me and think it's at freaking cool. I, too, would love to see the score. Be well and thank you!

I cannot believe that you’ve discovered Peter Hollens so recently! I’m addicted to a cappella singers. Once I satisfied my need with medieval & renaissance chorales. I didn’t discover modern a cappella until I followed a link to Peter Hollens’ solo cover of “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” on a chorale performance of “Veni, Veni Emmanuel.” Please listen to this solo by Peter - he does a vocalization that literally blows me away. A few years ago, Peter had several throat surgeries and lost his voice. He has heroically struggled back. I have every CD he has released. It is through his duets with other singers that I’ve discovered Tim Foust (HF), Avi Kaplan (Pentatonix), etc. From there, I have gone down the rabbit hole of VP, Geoff Castellucci, The Bass Gang, Tomi P, Marwan, Vinnie Marchi …. There isn’t any Peter Hollens performance that isn’t a master class in arrangement, complex harmony, & vocal beauty. He is an incredible person.

Peter Hollens is my favourite solo a capella artist and it's awesome that he answered some of your questions. His arrangements usually quite insane (but awesome). I hope you'll do some of Home Free's Christmas songs, too. They are my favourite a capella group. They've released recently "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" and is quite energetic and has a silly video. I laughed myself silly with it several times already. Also, they are already teasing "You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch" and will probably release it very soon on KZbin (friday would be my guess) and is amazing, too. But back to this one: I don't listen to Christmas music much and I didn't know this one (I think), but it's an amazing rendition and I enjoyed your analysis, too. So, thanks for the reaction and analysis.

Discovering Ptx in 2019 was my first real introduction into Acapela singing. I became intrigued-why am I having such a physical reaction with this type of singing? Instant chills. Finding your channel and being introduced to Peter Hollens with Tim and Avi. More chills but now I was drawn to the arrangements. Another beautiful rendition of "Carol of the Bells". Peter moving in regimented lines with the kids matched how I was hearing the layering of the choir as they each came in. It had a semaphore type feel. Amazing analysis Sir.🔔🌹 Amazing project Peter. 🌹🔔 And so cool the ghost voice on the mic. 👻🎵

Peter never fails us. All his work is stunning. I'm so glad you got in touch with him! Between your usual masterful analysis and his additional information, this reaction video is one of the best I've seen. Just three random comments on the arrangement: a) At one point I could swear Fred Flintstone was there in spirit, as a choral line (when they switched away from the dings and dongs) sound like "yabba dabba dabba." b) These song almost always inspires tears, but they didn't start falling freely until the children's chorus joined in. c) I'm sorry, Peter, but this arrangement wasn't QUITE perfect for me. I love the whole song, but I LIVE for that traditional final bass "Bohm" at the end. I missed it. But never fear; I can always, at any hour of day or night, always hear Avi in my mind.

I want to add, Sir Hairless, that one reason I find your reactions so extraordinarily appealing is that you can give a very educational musical analysis without ever losing the sheer joy of listening to music! Your enthusiastic and often emotional celebration of good music is never lost in the minutiae of suspension and hemiola. Bravo.
