Carter Burwell's stunningly beautiful and haunting theme runs through this timeless. tragic love story like a strong silent river. set in a period when homosexuality was not only taboo but criminal which is why Carol's husband was able to get full custody of their daughter no questions asked. Rooney Mara and Cate Blanchett are powerful in their roles as two star-crossed lovers.
