Very nice, this helps me see why Carolina Crown is so highly rated. Great drum corps stuff here.

Hey Thomas! I met you at Ball State this year! I was part of the Summer Symposium (I was the only tuba with a contra) and got to stand next to you in the warm up circle and march the first movement with you post show!

Hi! I have decided to take the step of trying out for crown for the next season. I have been on and off of this idea for a while and was wondering if you had any tips that would add me in my audition for crown? Thank you!!

I'm not the OP but I did march Crown back in 07' and 08' as a mellophone. My advise would be to start practicing your breathing. Pay close attention to taking a full breath. Do not cap your breath or hold it in. The breath in and out into the instrument should be one, fluid, movement. This helps with your attacks, quality of sound, and timing. Air is your fuel and you'll find that 80% of what it talked about from the brass team at Crown is how to management your air, how to breathe and how to take an appropriate breath given the amount of time you have in the music. Start jogging, and swimming. If your playing a larger instrument like Euphonium or Tuba, start weight training a little to build your back muscles and arms. Most importantly, don't stress out. The team at Crown only want to hear you at your best. They want to see you have fun and grow as a musician and instructor. When you go to camp, interact with the vets and alumni and be a sponge. Ask questions when you need to. If you goof up and they ask who did it, raise your hand! Don't be ashamed. Youre there to grow! They want to see an individual that can take instructions and grow. They want someone who is aware of their ability and someone they can mold. You don't have to be perfect! Enjoy it! Hope this helps man!

So, is the color guard or the horn players a better option for the tuba players?
