@@rvsone1629 complete crime. yuna had the highest TES in SP (excluding the GOE which she nailed) but then Sotnikova won TES was clear that the Judge cheated. Then there's PCS - were clearly YUNA and CArolina was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay ahead to Sotnikova. the audacity of the judges for that 0.24 gap.

Obviously her skating skills were magnificent, but her jumping technique was very solid as well. She may not have always been known for her technical feats in figure skating, but her correct jumping technique is what allowed her to be competitive into her 30’s.

​​​​​@@JeffB2015 Absolutely. Back in 2003, her first year in senior, she put 3Lz+3T, 3F+3T and 2A+1Lo+3S IN ONE LONG PROGRAM and was almost clean. She sure is a true jumping talent. She has one of the best skating skills and jumping technique in the history of all single skaters. She would have been an untouchable legend if she was more consistent and mentally stronger. What a pity.

But, you know, I'm extremely proud and honored to have in my country an athlet like Carolina Kostner. I wouldn't change her with anyone. No matter what, this type of skating is my favourite.

I miss Caro’s graceful elegance. I miss Yuna’s textbook jumps. I miss Mao’s mind-blowing step sequences. But kids nowadays are just jumping beans, throwing a bunch of quads with zero PCS (and not the best jumping technique, i must confess.)

Yes. It’s sad. And they are so overtrained with bad technique that they sadly don’t get a career that lasts for more than one Olympics. They lose their childhood, don’t get to have a long career and have injuries that they’ll cary for a long time.

But just stop it, except Yuna who had really great technique, absolutely all skaters Asada, Kostner, Sakamoto, etc, have a bad technique too... Watch their programs and their jumps in 0,25 speed, you will see that there is so much pre-rotation (180) on almost all jumps, bad edges (especially Asada), and often under-rotated. I think that you have so much nostalgia but particularly a hatred against Russians. Leave your hearts aside. When you look the program of Sotnikova, yes it's much worse than Yuna's program and she didn't deserve to win, but realy I think that she jumps better than Asada. Look at the Lutz of Sotnikova and the Lutz of Asada, there are se same, a bad edge. Lovely

No. Yuna did underotate her second lutz but, like Adelina, judges didn’t penalize for that. Therefore, Caro was a true champion and deserved the gold, not the silver.

Such an exquisite and unparalleled talent. Satoko is a skater in a very similar vein and incomparable in her own right, but Carolina was also blessed with this stockier, taller physique, which makes a lot of her movements stand out even more. Truly second to none and there’s no one out there quite like her, past or present.

Adelina tuvo una presentación mejor porque tuvo más dificultades. Acá, Carolina, no tuvo tantas dificultades, si bien, fue una presentación prolija y delicada, no hizo tantas vueltas complicadas. Igual tanto Adelina como Carolina, son excelentes patinadoras.

Everyone said that Yuna got a hit in her mark because she performed in the earlier group. But how did Adelina score more than this masterpiece? Kostner performed more difficult jumps, her performance had more finesse, &class, breathtaking skating skill, interpretation, nuance, etc. In my mind Adelina only won in her spins (Yulia was better in this regard), everything else was juniorish but the PCS mark she got was the thing that baffled me the most.

Every once in a while I come back to these videos from this competition and have many mixed feelings. Although Yuna didn’t win the gold, in our hearts she did. Carolina skated the first clean programs back to back in her skating career. She didn’t take the silver, but like Yuna, we know she should have. As for the gold medalist, I don’t have much to say other than she did her best, but we know what the outcome really should have been. At least we were given the gift of being inspired by such incredible athletes.

Carolina is Exhibit A on a CoP list of the finest in SS. That is the first category. Skating Skill. I give her 10 points in speed and flow across the ice AND 10 points in edging. It is the highest score given to ANYBODY!!!!!
