Carolina has to be the most fragile franchise in history. Every single year there seems to be crucial season ending injuries that kill any hope of optimism for the coming months. There's no reason to even think "hey, maybe this team will gel and have a good old fashion end of the year hotstreak" 4-1 or 5-0 ala the early 2010s team that made you believe next season they'd be hot.

@@pantherspost I don’t disagree about defense needing immediate help and depth but Cam Ward too good of a prospect to pass on imo. Bryce obviously doesn’t have that dawg or fire in him to elevate a team so he should be traded to either Vegas or Miami. Let Ward sit behind Dalton next season while stacking the Defense. O-line is still the best part of the team atm.

Man, I'm spent with this garbage can of a team. I'm still gonna watch them and rock my gear, but my faith is completely dead. Every game, from this point forward, I'm picking us to lose. Our burning bag of excrement defense permitted rookie Caleb Williams to throw for three bills and two tubs as well as rush for real estate behind a horrific o-line. Jaycee Horn was getting cooked. We can say, "Communication errors," but he was still getting oven roasted. Opposing squads can drive city transit busses through our trash defense. What else can we do at this juncture? There's zero remedies or adjustments that can rectify this crumbled fortress. Long seasons await us.

Depending on where we finish - let's say bottom 3 we should trade down in the draft, but not out of the Top 10. Draft the best available guy for defense. Maybe if we are lucky someone like Cam Ward will fall to a late first round spot where we can cheaply trade up for. Load up on defensive talents with the remaining draft picks. Try to sign someone like Tee Higgins in FA and maybe re-sign Dionte Johnson.

@@pantherspost first off we know Bryce is the problem. Second the offensive line is good. Third chuba Hubbard. Fourth canales seems to me like the guy. Fifth is that Jayden Peevy has looked good and get be a solid starter. Sixth is Diontae Johnson. Seventh is Jaycee looks like a number 1 corner when he’s healthy, which we knew but it’s nice to know all the injuries haven’t slowed him down (yes I know he struggled today but everyone has bad games). I’d say we’re headed the right direction.

Don’t forget about Legette. He seems to be worth the small trade up we made for him in the draft. Hope Diontae stays around and him and Legette become Panthers version of Evans and Godwin.

I disagree. It is way too easy to drop a gloom bomb on this season, but they are not even halfway done. Yes, the depth issues are very obvious, and developing talent, aka the Panther Way, arguably, is not bringing big time success. Trading DJ Moore for Bryce Young was huge mistake. Imagine the damage to the defense they could do if Andy Dalton had DJ Moore as veteran wideout. Also, imagine if they kept Robbie Anderson as well. Hypotheticals matter especially when the young guys get denied by better talents. The fact that the QB 1 problem was actually addressed and fixed to any respectable level speaks to a correct call made. Democracy was the way of the new choice, though it wasn't presented that way. There are so many changes possible this year, Stephon Gilmore might return, or anyone else we recognize. Dave Canales likely kept his job by benching Bryce, so that ends the coaching search. However, the QB search is likely not over, as Dalton is older, and Bryce is likely not going to be prioritized ever in the immediately near future. They need a younger quality franchise QB.

I still believe in Canales and Evero. I just think they need to keep working on getting regimes leftovers out amd getting their own guys in. So much of the focus this offseason was "getting bryce help" that the defense suffered. Now we're seeing that play out while the offense is still dealing with guys leftover from Rhule/Reich.

I think the only problem with playing him is that if he sucks, the team is gonna turn on him because they’re all trying to get paid too. If they don’t get their stats up, they don’t get paid. So that makes it a little trickier.

We definitely need blue chip talent defense and offense. On defense it’s Travis Hunter. None of the pass rushers are standing out so far and I’d much rather draft LT Kelvin Banks Jr. or LT Will Campbell before drafting any of these edge rushers unless they pick up their production. Was the Trimble hit not a helmet to helmet? If so that would have cancelled the fumble and been a 15 yd penalty. It wouldn't have made any difference in who won. The DL couldn't get any pressures and very few stops. The OL was swiss cheese. The team was out coached and out played. The ball going through JT Sanders hands on a first down catch. The OL not picking up blitzes or stunts. The only bright spot was the continued play of Hubbard and Hekker booming his punts(sometimes too far). Even Pinero was getting in on the sucking.
