Hidden Paperclips with Pockets - DIY - Craft Fair Ideas

Today, I want to share with you Hidden Paperclips with Pockets tutorial. These are great for Craft Fairs, to gift away, or make for your own. Also perfect to use your scraps and you can make 6 Hidden Paperclips out of a 12"x12" piece of Cardstock. I hope you like them! Let me know down below. Love you guys :)

***Written Instructions*** Hi, my super sweet crafty friends! A few of you couldn't follow the tutorial, so I'm posting here step-by-step written instructions hopefully easier for you to follow along with the video tutorial. To make 6 Hidden Paperclips with Pockets you'll need: - (1) 12"x12" Sheet of Cardstock - (6) 2" Paperclips - (6) 2-1/2" Pieces of Ribbon (they can be all the same color or different colors) - (6) 1-1/2"x1-1/2" Pieces of Decorative Cardstock (to decorate the front) - (6) 1-1/2"x1-1/4" Pieces of Decorative Cardstock (to decorate the front Pocket) - (6) 2-1/4"x1-1/2" Pieces of Decorative Cardstock (to create the back Pocket) - (6) 1-1/2"x1/4" Pieces of Decorative Cardstock (Optional to create a belly band on the front of back Pocket) - FabricTac or Glue of your preference (make sure it's not quick-dry so you have wiggle room to work) - Cutting Tool or Scissors - Scoring Board and Scoring Tool (You can use a ruler and a butter knife if you don't have those) - 1/2" Circle Punch (You can use scissors if you don't have one) - 1/4" Circle Punch (You can use scissors if you don't have one) - Cut the 12"x12" sheet of cardstock at 10-1/2" turn it around and cut at 6-3/4". You'll have (1) 10-1/2"x6-3/4" Piece of Cardstock and (1) 10-1/2"x5" Piece of Cardstock. - Trim 1/4" off the 10-1/2"x5-1/4" Piece of cardstock so you have a 10-1/2"x5" Piece left. - Turn the 10-1/2"x6-3/4" Piece of Carstock to the 6-3/4" side and score at 2-5/8", and then score at 5-1/4". Then turn it around to the 10-1/2" side and score at 1-3/4", at 3-1/2", at 5-1/4", at 7", and finally at 8-3/4". After you finish scoring, fold the piece accordion style so it looks as the piece in the video - Grab your 1/2" Circle Punch and cut a notch (or rounded indentation with your scissors if you don't have a punch) in the center of each 1-3/4" scored area, on the 1-1/2" flap as you see in the video. Do that to all 6 scored areas - Grab the 10-1/2"x5" Piece of Cardstock and score on the 5" side at 2-1/2" then turn it around to the 10-1/2" side and score at 1-3/4", at 3-1/2", at 5-1/4", at 7", and finally at 8-3/4". That will be the inside piece - Grab your 6 Paperclips and place them in the center of each 1-3/4" scored area as you see in the video - Grab the Accordion folded Piece of Cardstock and Punch a notch in the center of the top of each 1-3/4" scored area as you see in the video (I punch just a slit, around 1/4" of the 1/4" circle as I show in the video). Do that on all 6 scored areas - Place the Piece of Cardstock that has the Paperclips inside the accordion folded Piece so you make sure the paperclips align with the slits as you see in the video - Grab your (6) 2-1/2" pieces of Ribbon and Thread one to each paperclip top and then add glue to them and push them flushed to fold of the Inside Cardstock Piece as you see me do on the video - After it they dry, thread the Ribbon through the 6 notches on the accordion folded Piece of Cardstock. This part is a little persnickety, take your time and push them through so that the inside Piece of Cardstock gets as flushed to the accordion Piece of Cardstock as possible. The slit you are threading the Ribbon Piece through might tear a bit. That's OK, just be careful that it doesn't go all the way through :) - You probably won't need to cut any excess cardstock on your inside piece as I did in the video, since I updated the measurement on the written instructions. But, if you have any excess cardstock on the inside piece that comes out of the bottom of the accordion Piece of Cardstock, use your scissors to trim the excess as you see me doing in the video :) - Grab your Glue (I prefer to use FabricTac because it remains wet longer so I can make any adjustments, and it grabs to the paperclips better. But, you can use the glue of your preference. Just make sure is not a quick drying glue). Apply the glue generously to the Paperclip, and normally to the surrounding area of that side; making sure you don't go over the vertical scored lines, as you see me do in the video. You can use FabricTac for the Paperclip and a different glue for the surrounding area, since FabricTac is a little expensive. After you apply the glue, press the glued area to the accordion piece and use a bone folder or butter knife to burnish around so that the glue sets properly. Repeat on the other side - Grab your (6) 1-1/2"x1-1/2" pieces of Decorative Cardstock and glue them to the front areas that have the flaps for the small Pockets as you see me doing in the video - Grab your (6) 1-1/2"x1-1/4" pieces of Decorative Cardstock and round the corners on one side of the piece, then use your 1/2" circle punch to create a notch in the center of the side that is not rounded. Then glue them to the tops of the folded pocket flaps, as you see me doing in the video - Grab the (6) 2-1/4"x1-1/2" pieces of Decorative Cardstock and round the corners with a corner rounder or using your scissors. Then cut a notch in the center of the side that is not rounded using your 1/2" circle punch or your scissors, . Then place a thin line of glue on the sides and bottom and glue them to the back area of the folded accordion piece to create the Back Pockets as you see in the video. Do that to all 6 areas - Grab the (6) 1/2"x1/4" and place a thin line of glue to the sides only, then place them centered on top of the back pockets to create a belly band (This step is optional) - Now, add a thin line of glue to every bottom pocket flap as you see in the video to create the pockets. Make sure to leave a clean line (no glue) in between each of the six pockets. Please see the video so you can see how I'm doing it. Then fold the flap up and press it together to the other side. Use a bone folder or butter knife to burnish all the glued areas to make sure they set properly - Finally, use your cutting tool or scissors to cut every 1-3/4" to separate your hidden paperclips, and voilà! Your Hidden Paperclips are done and ready to decorate your Planners, Books, Notebooks, Mini Albums, and more! :) I hope the instructions are useful and you can follow along with the video to make your Hidden Paperclips! I usually try to make my tutorials as clear as possible, but I've been super short on time. I wanted to share this tutorial with you in case it was useful for your craft fairs so I made it as I could. The camera was cutting off and I didn't realize it till I started editing the video, too. It really is good to spend time with family :) We started hurricane season last month and have till November to go, but thankfully we've only had a lot of rain and lightning which is normal for this time of the year.
