You can see that she almost kissed him because she was vulnerable and sad at that moment, meaning she sees him as a comforting person, and secretly loves him.

She is not jealous. She is incredulous how Lucy could behave closely with Annie and behaved well. Basically he invited her in his closed circle informally. This is what Caroline did not like. Basically she wanted to take 1000 from Annie while giving her nothing.Annie should serve her and Lucy, and she expects that from Annie's Lawyer friend as well. Annie is realizing that Caroline is a fundamentally bad person. Her mother's abuse is not making her 'upset'. She herself conducts herself with bad intention. Given a chance when no one is looking she is the type to just pee in the other girl with shinier hair just for the heck of it. Peeing might be too much , but judging by the thing she does at the end to feel good about herself being the best among all, she is EXACTLY the peeing type. Caroline is not jumping around, visibly stomping, or moving her corner of the mouth to her temple. She is not THA~T type! She is the peeing-in-food-when-no-one-is-looking-type. When Lucy asks his step-mom , 'What do you know about Caroline?' the implication is She is not THA~T type!

Seriously, he gets people to agree to those cringe-worthy s*x tapes for his revolting sister’s amusement. Sure, he’s trying to change for Annie, but that doesn’t wipe the slate clean for his past. I mean, he slept with his stepmom-like, what? Why are you even into him? 😭 The only characters I can tolerate are Scott and Cecelia. And don’t even get me started on Annie; she was such a sweetheart before she got sucked into that college drama with Lucien and Caroline in their Delta Phi Pi mess. Honestly, she’s not the brightest bulb. I can’t root for her because she’s so wishy-washy (seriously, where’s her backbone?) and her back-and-forth friendship with Beatrice is a total headache. Speaking of Beatrice, she’s just too much-an activist in public but a total freak behind closed doors, watching her own s*x tapes. Talk about a hypocrite! She was all about joining the sororities, begging Blaise to let her into the party, and then she turned on everyone. She’s so fake and performative; it’s exhausting. All these characters need some serious therapy-like, maybe even more than that. This show is a dumpster fire, and I shouldn’t have to justify my dislike for it. Hope this clears things up! 🤍

But I think that's what attracts him to her, her simplicity vs his complexity...opposites attract. I think the dynamics are a little different here than usual good girl bad guy couples. Lucien is bordering on psychopath but we get to see glimpses of whats going on inside, a young boy deeply broken by the morbid and shocking death of his mother, we only see a glimpse though and you can tell that it's even more complex than that, whereas Annie's really discovering herself and grappling with her identity, whilst trying to keep within the safe confines of behaviour that protects the reputation of her parents whom she loves. Thats just her character, that's annie, i don't think she needs to be more 'interesting' because she wouldnt be annie anymore, and she's definitely realistic, normal people are simpler than how we'd want to paint them in modern films. interesting part is the what unfolds when their characters collide. There's definitely nuance here

@victoriaogunfowokan3120 sorry but I don't think they have chemistry after that it's subjective it's just my opinion BUT from a narrative point of view his love for her comes out of nowhere we don't really see him bond with her and spend real moments where he is himself with her, none of their interaction is genuine, they would have needed more development and moments of connection before making us believe that he is suddenly in love with her.

​​ I do agree, but I think it's because for most of the season, till episode 6/7, he's still essentially in the game, it's all supposed to be an act. He is not supposed to be aware that he's falling in love, he only really realises that, and our suspicions are affirmed, when Caroline explicitly concludes that he's in love after he decides he no longer wants to play games with Annie. Whilst I would've loved to see more vulnerability from both of them as you described here, it may have also come across as being abrupt and rushed for an 8 episode serie, this is why we need the next season 😅

@victoriaogunfowokan3120 Yes, throughout, it was just a game for him, which is why I find it hard to believe he's in love with her. It's not like there were moments of connection, bonding, or vulnerability between them through this "game," as we often see in other tropes of this kind. I wish that by the end, they could have at least grown to appreciate each other as friends and further developed their relationship in season 2. But yes, eight episodes were too short to develop a romantic relationship, and even as friends, I feel they lacked authentic moments together. But we'll see in season 2.

I feel like I'm the only one who actually liked the show. I mean, I know they could've done better job with it but I like how every character there has a deeply hidden problems and traumas. It's not just about who has better chemistry. I actually enjoyed the story. And it's disturbing and twisted, but it makes sense. Caroline and Lucien have both been deeply hurt by their parents, especially her mother, who never loved Caroline, but maneged to groom and maybe even rape Lucien. They both feel like they don't deserve love, they know they are broken, but they also desperately try to fill that void or act out. She tries to gain power to earn the love of her mother and he sleeps with every girl he can. They also both love/hate each other, because they are the only people that they can be honest to and they understand their own traumas. I feel like we saw more of the Lucien's emotions and vulnerability in this season and Caroline is just dameged to the point that she hurts everyone around her to gain what she wants. There was only one short moment of her showing her true feelings after the dinner with her mother. I really hope for the second season to show us more of their backstory and how they will deal with everything. And don't even get me started on others. Even though all those people may be a bit annoying (I would blame the writers of the show) they all actually have interesting stories and it's rare in shows. Like, I rarely am so involved with every secondery character's story. But Annie, CeCe, Beatrice, Scott, Blaise and even Bladesman - I really want to know how everyting will turn out for them. I know the chances for second season are slim, I've watched the show, I know it's not that good, but I really got hooked. And it gets better with every episode.
