Come Dine With Me takes people who are experts in the art of giving the perfect dinner party and puts their skills to the test. All are great cooks and excellent hosts - but they're all very different. So, if one person's perfect dinner party is another person's evening from hell, how will our hosts cope with a whole week of each other's hospitality?
Each night for a week, one of our hosts will throw a dinner party for the others. They all have their own unique styles of cooking and entertaining, but they're all determined to impress, because at the end of each evening, the guests will give their host a mark out of ten. The host with the most points at the end of the week wins £1,000 pounds. Come Dine With Me has expanded to a variety of formats including singles, couples and celebrity specials!
Content distributed by ITV Studios.

And the higher class came out on top. Not that I particularly like these two, but I really despise “lower class” people who act and behave in a lower class. There are perfectly nice and courteous people who are not “sophisticated” - it’s a pleasure to speak to them because, while their circumstances in life prevented from achieving, or even seeking, higher education, they are still keen to learn and have discussions. Many times, one ends up learning a lot from them too, precisely because their curiosity in life has given them the education they did not get at school. These two dullards who think that talking about anthropology is boring and who laugh at idiotic jokes are certainly not representative of the latter.

I remember watching the whole episode. Caroline was exceptionally patronising the entire episode and her only companion on the show whom she deemed worthy to speak civilly too Charles was a untalented man-child who bought 70% of the ready-made foods/takeaways he reheated/cooked on his night. Then threw a tantrum that Andrea and Tom said they would have preferred if he made the meals himself. Both were horrid and horrendously rude. Though Tom clearly needs to see a doctor about his gas issues because he belched at least 30 times during the filming of the four nights dinners.

It is incredibly naff to have a book on etiquette and to bring it out to quote at someone. It would have me sniggering. Though I can't stand belching at table. Once is bad enough. More and I would leave the table and go home but if with friends, I would eat in the kitchen, try and belch as much as I could outside and give It a go to join people after they ate.

Yes, indeed: I find it amazing how somehow it is the fault of the more eloquent person that their interlocutor lacks vocabulary. I don’t mind that people don’t have a rich vocabulary - everybody should try to have as rich a vocabulary as possible, but I understand that some people have other priorities in life. Some of these people are very dear to me. That said, I shouldn’t be shamed and called out - as some people are wont to do - because I use what they perceive as “big words”. I mean, he said “anthropology” - it’s not like it’s some esoteric Shakespearean term. It’s a subject offered at every university!

I had a boss some time back who was from an "old money" family, very highly educated, very successful person, stinking rich and an all round charming fellow. I remember he once told me that "people who try and use french culture as a substitute for real class are trying aggressively to mask their own inferiority complex". Now whenever I see one of the boomers on this show try and act like french food and using french phrases is somehow in vogue (newflash, it's not the 80s) I always think of him.

there are always four sorts of people & these 4 represent each one: older fake tan dark haired lady: working class, most likely enjoys soaps and going to her local pub. Doesn't read books. Most likely has the "Live, Laugh, Love" ornament in her front room. Has a chip on her shoulder as she thinks everyone that uses big words looks down on her & thinks she is common. young, fake tanned man: enjoys club dance music, his Instagram is just photos of himself or with friends clutching drinks, thinks anyone that reads or enjoys education is dull, generally a bit ignorant & underneath the bravado act feels inadequate & insecure. older lady with pearl necklace: middle class,, enjoys saga magazine & frequents coffee shops. A bit stuck up, most likely dislikes tattoos and piercings, believes if you didn't go to university, you didn't do well in life. Attends II Divo concerts. younger, platinum blonde man: a loner , has singular interests that only a specific crowd will understand, feels like he doesn't fit in at times, generally gets on with everyone, pacifist, generally well rounded person.

One of my favourite Disney memories was my first ever time going to Disneyland Paris, I was about 6 and I still remember it (terrible memory otherwise!😂). It was snowing, thick snow which made it even more magical. Me and my cousin were making snow angels and then we saw cast members walking Mickey Mouse to a backstage area. I can’t remember who threw the first ball… but as he walked past, myself, cousin, auntie and uncle all ended up in a snowball fight with THE Mickey Mouse! I’ve never forgotten it… it’s quite surreal thinking about it.

It's funny how this turned into a class war, how the others who didn't understand Charles' subject automatically became very intimidated by his knowledge and then decided It was a class thing.. I went to university and studied quite a complex architectural subject and I grew up on a council estate. I just think that they felt a threat towards the others just because of their accents and professions, etc. This does not define people, learn about them and give people a chance.

Why is it when people choose to speak an behave properly it's deemed negative. When you have to deal with people who choose to be seemingly "normal" it makes me irritated, when in company why don't you respect the host!!
@BelgraviaTottie
@BelgraviaTottie 4 жыл бұрын
Emilie Holmes When she attended Andreas evening, she actually acted very negatively and did not always behave “properly” as you say. She was very rude and made a remark about giving Dave, her food and running into the kitchen to make toast, she corrected and criticised others food, manners and behaviour which is not etiquette at all. Although not burping, putting your cutlery in right position, having no elbows at the table, finishing your food and not criticising the dish/complaining about it, are all behaviours/attributes I’ve been taught to do, or not to do. I’d never embarrass others at the table for their behaviours, in their homes on their nights. That’s simply not proper behaviour, as you ever so eloquently put it. I do however, agree that their manners at the table weren’t the best. She didn’t handle it correctly and was quite pompous and patronising.
