lifetime did a movie about a girl doing a social experiment pretending to be a pregnant teenager. This reminds me so much of the fake deep Cole Sprouse tumblr "social experiment" 😭😭 It's like she is just discovering empathy. I think it was very insensitive and I don't think it has to do with age as I'm pretty close in age with her. I have a condition that could cause infertility and even though before knowing that I had no intentions of ever getting pregnant, it makes me feel sad that there is something in my body not working how it should, even if I don't want to use that function, so to speak. But even then, I don't need a close experience to do with any other condition to be able to have empathy for whoever is going through it and not make weird "social experiments" and promo material about them

I really thought I was losing my mind reading the first batch of comments and seeing the 10s of thousands of people siding with her. The greatest results of this "social experiment" are that Caroline is incredibly emotionally immature, pseudo-intellectual and that a large portion of her fans that supported her recent "joke" are the very ones the joke is about.

First of all, I cannot be more disgusted as a rainbow baby myself. I actually know a person who's been pregnant at 20 and actually had fertility issues. Making the decision to keep that child was the hardest decision she had to make because she knew that she may not have another child but she knew that she wasn't ready per sé to have a kid. The fact that Caroline doesn't understand the gravity of the situation is insane to me. You're meaning to tell me she planned this for months prior to starting it and then continued it for months when she could have stopped at any time and said something. She would have had to think about this multiple times and at no point in her thought process did she think that IN THE MOST BASIC OF TERMS; people really get affected by their own and others pregnancies. I feel like a lot of people supporting her in making this decision don't understand that being self aware doesn't actually excuse you of your actions. There are certainly cases where being self aware of what you are doing certainly can be the difference between whether something is satire or not, but I think faking a miscarriage crosses the line. For most women, having a miscarriage is a traumatic experience that they never fully recover from. Even after "moving on", they grieve for it their whole life, wondering what could have been, similar to how anyone would grieve a lost loved one. Imagine if she leveraged some other traumatic experience like getting assaulted for views, which is sadly something actual KZbinrs have done before. If your "experiment" is doing the same thing that clickbait KZbinrs have been shunned for for years, then what are you even trying to communicate? That you can get away with anything as long as you say, "it was just a prank! Haha, I fooled you!" She did an informal social experiment on ethics without ever considering the ethics of the experiment itself.

I keep pendulating between dismay at how absurd this is, and amused at how absurd this is. My life has been in no way affected by this, but I can't stop wondering what had gone through her mind to not only think "this is OK", but "this is such a clever idea!" 😅 It always boggles me when ppl do out of pocket stuff like this, that needs extensive planning and executing, like, you had do much time to sit with "the project", and maybe come to your senses and reconsider, and you STILL went through with it😂 Tbf, I don't think the fertility issues were the nail in the coffin, I don't think that without it, ppl would have been more forgiving, for so many reasons, and they all boil down to the fact that no matter what else, she was a great actress - I would've totally believed and related to her thought processes and struggles. And I would've felt betrayed if I would've followed her along and found out it was a "gotcha" thing. And no, that doesn't prove her point - it's good to be aware and have critical thinking, but you shouldn't go out into the world thinking everyone might be deceiving us or out to get you, that's such a sad and unfulfilling way to live. Most youtubers DON'T lie and manipulate you on such serious and sensitive topics, and those who do, are simply shit for it, so what's her point really? She could've just said her piece from the "conclusion/reveal" part of this ridiculous saga as a video, and the point would've been made, none of this was necessary - not to mention the fact that I don't think she even truly cared about it anyway, and it was just a ploy to get ppl to join her Patreon, to see "what else is this crezy chick up to now?" 🙄

As a 20 year old who ACTUALLY went through a miscarriage 2 months ago, It really hit home for me, and I think it's incredibly insensitive. Im not necessarily triggered, but it's definitely in very poor taste...

I’m truly sorry you are going through this. My heart goes out to you.

love how she's trying to provide a "logical" explanation for why her blatantly lying about her pregnancy and pushing the blame onto her audience, who of course would believe her if they trust her enough to watch her, as if that doesn't make her sound like more of a psycho than she's making her audience seem to be

Curious question for ppl, but if she had done the same thing except it was on Apr 1st, would it have been in better taste? It's something I have been pondering on.

Being happy and supportive of someone having a baby is not a parasocial relationship, its normal, if they want the baby of course. The fact that "since it wasnt real" that that makes it parasocial..... no thats not how this works.

For me it’s the sense of manipulation that makes this not humor and not a social experiment. What would this experiment prove? People connect to those struggling with fertility? Very obvious and already known fact of life.

And don't forget: girl wasn't even talking about parasocial relationships correctly.

Really disappointed. I used to watch her skits all the time in high school, never thought she'd stoop this low.Tbh I geniuely thought she was actually pregnant and regardless, I was happy for her. But making jokes about miscarriages is just plain cruel and insensitive, which is a very real and very horrific trauma that many people go through

Also my apologies for actually being ignorant enough to believe that she was pregnant. I am autistic and sometimes I struggle with interpreting whether something or someone is genuine or not

I actually did give birth to my son when I was 20 and even at that age I knew fake pregnancy announcements were fucked up and inappropriate but whatever Caroline

"viewers tend to become attached to something that isn't real" yeah especially when you lie to them and string them along for months.

@@chris135x but who lies about being pregnant. that's whre the backlash comes from. most normal people dont make entire videos about pregnany just to lie. bc it's a serious thing. oh ig, egotistical infleuncers do, but they get a pass right.. maybe dont be a pos and lie about pregnancy, miscarriage, in the hopes of being deep and philosophical. oh yeah, and trying to sell smth too but whatver
@chris135x6 ай бұрын
@@celestialbunny I don't know. But she was not really pregnant. People get angry over anything these days. Caroline would have to actually be pregnant for a miscarriage to happen. Why did people get so invested in the life of a stranger?

Sorry but just ….. no. All her snarky comments legit piss me off. Her tone and everything. She’s a smartáss who takes pregnancy as an absolute joke.
