Not only was her life unlucky but it was just as tragic as her 2nd great-grandmother Sophia Dorothea.

Much appreciated Sir thanks 😊

I was thinking that too.......though the treatment of Sophia Dorothea seemed more harsh.

A tragic sad story in many ways, her husband was not the sharpest pencil in the box, her heart ruled her head, she had a short life, there is no real proof against her, Thank you Jon as always.

I admire her for cheating. Since the marriage was arranged, she had no reason to be faithful. Everyone deserves love.

The film “A Royal Affair” which stars Mads Mikklesen and Alicia Vikander is about this tragic story.

the movie made her more attractive than she was in reality. Very fine film. GOOD ACTING. She died when 23?

Queen Caroline Mathilde was (via her and Struensee's daughter Louisa Augusta of Denmark) the great grandmother of Viktoria Augusta of Slesvig-Holsten-Sønderborg-Augustenborg who was married to Kaiser Wilhelm II

All that done before the age of 23? I must admit, I was very silly until about 35…but I never carried such responsibilities and had such high expectations placed on me. But walking in the park was a great sin, I do not envy her one bit!

Definitely another fascinating profile, Jon., I know very little about 18th century history, having been "stuck" in the 16th. :-) Btw, men don't get labeled "scandalous" quite as often as women for some reason. She was so very young, too. Must've been heady times - especially to be married to someone who was unstable. Yet Christian VII seems like another sad guy who wasn't destined to rule. Here's to the free vote.

Your videos keep getting better and better. She died so young. I thought she was middle aged at least from the portraits.

Very well presented Jon 😊. Never heard of her, but always good to learn something new. She had a very short life though, one would think that she was older, cause of all her experiences. Thank you 🖐

Great job with A another fantastic video. I don't know if she'll had bad luck but I do know who had bad luck; his name is King Ferdinand seventh of Spain. He didn't have children until he was near the end of his life- and he still wasn't happy.

I know she had a very tragic life. When I first read of her many years ago. However, at least she had her Struenese But,too, he may have used her for his own power-grab,too. Though I am sure if that was the case, it backfired on them both spectacularly. Instead, she lost any claim to her own two children. No visits, nothing. If only she and other royals could have married for love not just a dynasty or politics. Her husband Christian was quite crazy and her first cousin, too. Are there any descendants, royal or other wise still around today?
