Wool carding on the Carolina Carder at NCTTC

Carding suri is very difficult. I was impressed. Could you make a video of a batt. I would like to see that. Do you have a cross lapper for that machine and a cutter? Why were you not using carding oil it make a world of a difference. Ross

What was the humidity that day? I have carded suri many times and I card alpaca at 89%. sheep's wool at 22_28% dependant on the type of wool. Only Jacob Sheep can be carded drier. It is still an amazing video. Have 2 large carding machines always wanted a small one with a double doffer. Love carding alpaca read an article by Xungai Wang, Alfred Deakin Professor Director Institute for Frontier Materials (IFM) It is excellent I wish in Canada our government would pay for more research on removing dust from wool. It is a great article. I always wonder what the humidity was in Bradford when the Great Titus Salt first carded alpaca. Amazing card.

I was a carding engineer for 7 years, another life, humidity for mohair, marino and karakul always very high. Can remember mohair snaking into the when aircon went haywire. Worked on Plat , Octur, FOR and Thibue carding machines, installed from new, moved them about plant and ran them. Thanks for the memories
