i have been aware of john baker since carp fever and he has always been known as some one who knows about bait.i started carp fishing in 1977 and there were no ready made baits available then so you had to make your own and i still do!i have used the block before and cut sausages to make "pillows"so they dont roll around on the bottom.but i have never thought of using two different baits to create one.sheer genius john!

Thank the lord for you guys you and one other podcast are the only guys who talk bait on KZbin, literally 2 channels, I've worked for a bait company for 15 years and hand on heart John I love making bait more than catching carp go figure, as always John and William fantastic video, liked and shared.

Great video once again John, your philosophy on being different is the key to a lot of my success. I also agree very much on the round boilie theme. I fish no more than 40 yds the majority of the time and I chop all my round baits, so If the day ever came I roll my own bait instead of just hookbaits I’d be far less inclined to roll them round most of the time. I look forward to the next video as refreshing and informative as they are.

Absolutely brilliant, and what a time to find your channel, been reading through my fishing books from the last 40 years, trying to get inspiration, I river fish, mainly for barbel and chub on the trent ( 5 minutes away from me), but finished the season feeling lost, think I got caught up in the standard trent fishing tactics (bait wise anyway), but after reading some of my older books , you getting a mention in afew of them, got me thinking, I haven't made bait for over 20years, the brilliant RH superfish/liver mix with monstercrab, shellfish sense appeal, and something I can't remember, stunning bait, caught loads of carp from rivers and canals in Essex/Hertfordshire, but up in East Midlands, looking at a change, and this video has inspired me to go my own route, teach my youngest how to make bait, thank you, will be ordering soon..good health and safe travels, cheers craig

Hi Craig, very pleased to hear we've inspired you to start making bait again after all this time! Make sure to watch our other videos as well for some more ideas. Be different from the masses using shop bought and preserved baits, make your own and reap the rewards!

Worth mentioning John, is that this method is invaluable for base mixes that don't roll well.
@johnbakerbaits91083 жыл бұрын
Yes, absolutely!
@darrylclarkson17993 жыл бұрын
I would like to know when you put a basemix together what was your testing process to see if the fish liked it and if it's not to their liking, why did you think it didn't work and how do you know what to change and the levels you change it to'to make it acceptable to the fish. Great video as usual

Something ive never used.always use 2 baits your bio fish and your milk and honey.would never have thought to use both joined as one. May just have to do that.ive had a few now on both your baits.waiting for one of the big girls before they spawn. Il try that nxt mix i do.brilliant as usual.thanks for sharing.👍

What are your thought John on boiling the bait in cling film or just steaming to reduce flavour loss. Great video again guys thank you 🎣👌
@johnbakerbaits91083 жыл бұрын
Hi Dave, I wouldn't personally do either of those things. The bait I make and use is designed to be boiled directly without any cling film. Steaming isn't a good idea in my opinion, better to cook the bait quickly as in the video!

Talking of glugging bait many years ago when I first started getting into bait I used to make my bait freeze it then the night before the trip I'd give it a Liberal coating of L030 thinking as it defrosted it would be drawn into the skin of the bait, I might add it was already in the bait along with glm and molasses etc, (it was a high end fishmeal), I noticed I'd have fish rolling over my bait for night one, but would never receive a take until the Sunday morning nearly 36 hours later, as soon as I stopped adding extra liquids, I'd get takes within a couple of hours, less is definitely more.

This was really interesting I think I over power my baits.whrn I by pellets.i always put krill juice to all my pellets.some just plain pellets I thought it would give me the edge.i notice get a phew fish then it goes dead.by the way brought some ready made paste from my tackle shop is jbi you're home paste.its brilliant.🤔🤗

Hi John. I need to add a small fly, into the ointment. In virtually, all of your vlogs, you are extremely meticulous, on the importance of flavour levels. Yet, you do not mention the flavour levels in this gem. The cream seed mix, with the bio shell fish, has no mention of flavour levels. Just cream caramel & maple. Are flavours incorporated in the bio shellfish on the other side, if so, which Could you make us wiser to the flavour levels, please, so i can create an equally devastating double sided bait. Thank you David
