when you said Lonehill dam my 1st thought is.... Barbel!!!!! Beautiful dam but loads of barbel but if you target barbel with popups then this dam is heaven

If it looks like a fish, smells like a fish it must be a fish, and i heard size doesn't matter. You are lucky to fish public ponds there in Jhb. Here in Cape Town the City closed most of the little dams for angling.
